I'm thinking of starting a little "motivation challenge", where each week I (or someone else) sets a topic for the week that is quite broad and can be approached from many angles for everyone to take a photo of. Photos are then submitted and we give feedback. Would anyone here be interested in something like this? I just think it would be good to motivate myself to go outside of my boundaries, and challenge others to do so as well.[/QUOTE]

I feel like ranting about her some more. When I first met her, she told me she was a 'professional'. After a few weeks into the relationship she starts telling me about how people would tell her that her 'shit is weak', etc. Do you know how bad it hurt to stare these images in the face and say they are good?

Let it be known that she thought the selective coloring was subtle, and made it a point to let everyone know where it was and how clever she was for it. I should mention that she treated these pictures like a jacked up pickup truck with smoke stacks - it was all for her ego. she would go around talking about her artsy skillz and put down other people all the time.

we should start threads for trends like the floating, I think it would be good exercise to put out fun projects for people to give their own take on, much like stuff in the photoshop contests section.

the horrible part is that all I did was walk back from taking picks of my friend and like didn't fiddle with the settings, barely lined up and shot

didn't like it at first but when I went through my aperture library I was like "Hmm, this is actually not half bad"

Today I was doing some candid shots of my friend, unfortunately they mostly came out bad due to him moving about so quickly and me not being able to focus fast enough. Using manual a manual lens for candid stuff is a pain in the ass.

i've got a broken ae-1 P with FD 50 1.4 and 188A speedlite sitting around here. I wish I could get it fixed but it's probably not worth it with the repair costs probably being like 50$ or so

candid is more when the subject isn't aware of the camera or isn't trying to ham it up for said camera or do anything really in the sense of "you're taking a picture of me, I am going to do ____________"

as I said a few days ago and i'm sure alot will agree.. some of the best photos are sponteneous. I've been reading a book on Jane Bown (fantastic photographer) and she says how she'll take a picture once and move on.

my point is try not to worry too much about your photos, you've not been taking pictures that long anyway and already your photos are shaping up nicely.

The single best thing about digital photography is that ability to take a photograph of literally anything and experiment. Having the ability to take 800 shots in a single day without feeling remorse for wasting money is brilliant.

See a person on the street doing something cool. Snap, snap, snap! Later on you look at them and notice they didn't turn out great, but that's ok. You get over it. Certainly people argue that using film makes you make each shot count and that makes you better, but I disagree. I say the more you shoot, the better you get. The ability to experiment with so many different things at any time is great.

Beautiful colours... but the horizon is too near the centre for me personally, more of the land would have made it that bit more interesting.
