The Creative Photography Thread - If It Ain't Bokeh, Don't Fix It

I prefer higher iso B&W, the film grain is the cherry on the cake.
Here are a couple of my pics, from my photostream that B-Hazard already posted:

welcome aboard, this is good stuff man.
I think he has natural talent, certainly better than the first pictures I took. However shooting in film does make your more thoughtful.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback people, I will be posting up a few more in a while by the way : )

its really good, the only comment i have to make it look a little better is to make the camera a little closer and more symmetrical with the wall. other than that its great. nice fixie by the way.

heres a photo that didn't come out very good because of the low light with the low film speed, but IF YOU WERE WATCHING WHEN MY BAND PLAYED LIVE, you will recognize this as the place where the magic happens! (will do the live thing again!)

Yeah I was using 125 speed Ilford FP4, not the grainiest on the market :v:.
Not sure if I posted this already, but I was going to use it for the photo contest until I realized the photo had to have been taken for the contest in that week's time. Oh well, I'll plop it in here for some CC.

I am just a beginner so please feel free to leave a criticism about my shots, I would really love to improve my skills at taking pictures : )

It could stand to be lightened up in some areas, but I love the level of detail with the shadows in the snow. B&W was definitely the way to go with this image.

[b] Tunage | I dunno
I met Allie in traffic. She was hanging out of the window of the car infront of me flailing her arms and yelling. I took a picture from my car and she hopped out of her car and jumped into my window and shook my hand. We exchanged business cards and then she hopped out. After some texting we got together this morning and had an awesome shoot! Can't wait to get more up and go clubbing tonight!

Dat flare.
alright, so I had a bit of a laugh. the car guy asked me, when he found I was 'good at photoshop', he brought up a picture on his computer

he pointed to the half-assed 'reflection' at the bottom of the image and said he liked that 'style' and asked if I could do 'that'.
"CAN YOU DO THAT" he says...
and that's just from one picture I snapped in the junkyard. With expectations as low as his I have to wonder what reaction will come of this
My friend lent me his fixie to take pictures of for his website, so expect bopie-esque shots soon.
I got some dirty looks from riding it home, but boy do I love it.

its a bit more worn than in that picture.
It's hard to take it anywhere round me though cos I live on a hill and it has no back brake :v:
It's hard to take it anywhere round me though cos I live on a hill and it has no back brake :v:
Yeah? Try riding full brakeless when your clips are so worn they pop out as your heading downhill towards a stop sign. Haha.
Also you're mate needs foot retention, + his chain looks a lil slack.
but seriously a fixie without foot retention is just asking for it.
btw, #1 rule is always take pictures on the drive side.
nah that pics when the bike was almost finished, he has a chain tensioner now.
Why would he need a foot retention though?
nah that pics when the bike was almost finished, he has a chain tensioner now.

its a direct-drive drivetrain. if you're feet aren't properly attached to the pedals, you don't have control over the whole bike and thus less stopping power. if you lose your footing you're fucked. even with a front brake if you're cruising pretty fast you have two cranks spinning beneath you with the inertia of the mass of your body and the bike at whatever speed your going - that force adds up fast.
ride a freewheel road bike on a modest dirt trail, then take a fixed road bike and you will feel how much more control you get. the dynamics are completely different and it's difficult for people to understand/believe till they try it. alot of people don't get the appeal and chalk it up to hipsters trying to be cool.
also, to enthusiasts, a fixed gear without foot retention looks like a fwd honda with a huge spoiler.
