Here's a few pictures that I took while on a hike with some friends the other day.
That looks 100% like a place I know of in Norway (In the summer obviously)
Where is that?
Well it depends on the focal length of your lens and crop factor of your camera as well.
Also IS.
I'd love the EF 50mm 1.8, if you are interested Cueball
:smug:
So would I... do you have one in your posession?
As I said a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM would be lovely.
If you'd be able to that is.

Eventually...
I don't think my pictures look great compared to yours. I think your pictures are pretty awesome. I love the colours in all of them. If anything yours look much prettier than mine. :buddy:
Why thank you, mate! It really means a lot.
I really like the sharpness and tones in yours.
Rockin' an EF 24mm 1.4L USM :D
It kinda shows. I get a tripod or something for most things under 1/100, but I also have really shaky hands.
I can take things fine at 1/6 unless the subject is moving or the wind is blowing strongly etc.

Awesome.
I'm still using the kit lens :(

Get the 50mm prime! It's practically the cheapest and best first lens purchase.
Just realized, that I haven't been taking ANY photos the last 9 days, or so. I hate being stuck here, with my shitty kit lens.
I am, I was going to buy one this weekend but for whatever reason my dad changed his mind when I was about to leave because it would take an hour and a bit to get to the guy who was going to sell me it.

I'm using a kit lens though, and I'm doing fine with it for now.

You can get some interesting perspectives with that.

The kit lens was the only lens I used for 2 years.
Work with what you've got - and don't worry too much about what you don't have. You'll acquire it at some point, I'm sure - until then, just see what you're using now as practice. You'll improve a lot if you're using exclusively one lens.
Also, saw this train at London Bridge the other week.
Sweet graffiti.

Hopefully if Jessops are reasonably priced I'll be getting my first prime today!
Ugh, Jessops are pretty wank in my experience, telling me that the Sandisk Extreme III was not worth my time or money, also selling it for 2x the price that it was on Amazon..
Hopefully if Jessops are reasonably priced I'll be getting my first prime today!
AFAIK it's £86 in Jessops

Thanks, you're right. I'll go out later, and see if I can get anything worth posting.

Haha, really different that's great.
Trying to get into photography using my mom's camera. The unfortunate thing is, her camera is a single lens. Should I buy my own (was thinking D3000 or Rebel xs)? Oh and critique please!

those are just ordinairy photo's. You should go out to make pictures, if you are starting to hate your compact camera cause it's not doing what you want, then consider buying a dSLR.
pretty good

I like the last one the most
Thanks guys! I'm mostly just trying to get the hang of everything and learning things about cameras, I'll go out and take photos soon.
Here is another I took that I like, pretty plain and boring though.

I don't like the 'artistic' angle, also it's pretty generic.
Just testing out this here camera some more, trying to just go through everything, see what I can pull out with no outside editing. I did edit one photo though, because I want to try this "split tone" thingy I see here.

Try to stop using flash so much.
