Not sure if edited photos count as proper photos but well.
Some macros: (very big images on links)
Using macro extension tube.

what's the difference between a 50mm 1.4 and 1.8?
2/3 a stop of luminosity.
what's the difference between a 50mm 1.4 and 1.8?
As said above, an extra 2/3 stop of light.
But also better image quality, built quality, more vibrant colours, more aperture blades.
Also, more controlled lens flares. All assuming you're talking Canon.
Here's a picture I took with my FD 50mm 1.8 lens, I want to get a 1.2L but they cost like $700 lol

Not bad for an $11 lens
$700 you say? I may have to invest in an old FD camera so I can utilize that 1.2
I assume you've got an adapter to hook that shit up to a digital camera? Definitely a unique setup.

Yeah they run for quite a bit on ebay! I've seen them anywhere from $400-800, if you have one I'd say use it. I have two FD film cameras that I both got dirt cheap at a garage sale and goodwill, but only one of them works.
But yeah I have a Sony Alpha Nex 5 that I got as a graduation present, and I bought an adapter so I could use the FD lenses I had. The 50mm is WAY sharper than the lens that came with the camera, but obviously less convenient.
I don't have one haha. I think 'roughing it' with an FD 1.2 is better than paying twice as much for a EF 1.2L if I'm desperate for that huge aperture.
That's clever of you by the way, probably the best bang-for-buck solution. $11, jesus.
Thanks for all the autistics for my one in the forest further up guys.

I could use some of those, matter of fact! btw, why is it named 'jew'?
Because it's called Mountain Dew, I'm jewish and I am jewish with my dew, this is the fridge at work and I let my colleagues have no more than one can each :P
FD 55mm f1.2 is on sale right now on eBay, you can get it for a mere price of 290US$.
Also, there is an FD 85mm f1.2 for £630.

Yeah I definitely like the setup I have. The adapter was the most expensive part, which was about $50. I got 4 lenses for it for $40 haha. A 70-135 Canon (haven't used much, zooms aren't so sharp and weird depths), a 28-200mm Vivitar Macro (poor optics, but macro is fun sometimes), my 50mm, and a 500mm Vivitar Mirror lens that I just use for extreme spying. They are really fun to play around with and have gotten me to be really great at manual focusing.

I'm not THAT into photography to spend that much on a lens, and I don't know much about the 55mm. I've read mostly into 50's, fisheyes, and 28's. I'm sure those are fantastic lenses, but I'm really not that good of a photographer. I just take pictures for fun

Thanks man :D
One more then I'm getting ready for work.
This hasn't changed too much from the original - tweaked the WB very slightly but that's it.

Again, I would love some cc.
I've been thoroughly impressed with a lot of the stuff from the past few pages.

Very simple, very pleasing, a great colour contrast.
The only thing I can complain about is the positioning of hands in the backgrounds - I think the symmetrical flower would look better against a symmetrical background, but that might just be me.
I don't have a knack for photography, I don't even know what I'm doing. I just change settings with my fingers crossed. I was just randomly playing around with shutter speed, aperture and iso, out of 250+ odd photos I got a couple which weren't over exposed or under exposed.

I had a tinkle near a nest of these little buggers, later found them crawling near our bags so I thought I'd take a quick snap of them.

A couple of beers brought this
All I did was simply pick up a camera, do a quick google search on what aperture and iso do and then just played around with that.
Thats how most of us started out.
Just wanted to say that the last page has some seriously awesome photos.
I went away for the weekend to Wales. Yesterday I went to Aberystwyth without my camera, so my dad and brother used it.
I'm just going through the shots and come across this. :wtc:
