I listen to my NPR podcasts(This American Life, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Radio Lab) when I do things on the computer, but I don't edit much. I'm a SOOC kinda guy.
c&c: more contrast and saturation would help.
Alright let's get down the business. I have started my second night of durnk posting, since it was so well received last night.

I'll throw stuff up on virtualDJ and slow it down 33% (sometimes 50 if i know the song too well) and chill out to that while I do my processing. It's an acquired taste kinda thing, but with like 'happyhardcore' and electro-pop there is so much going on so fast you almost hear whole new songs when it's slowed down. It's been a habit for a few years and I've made some mashups out of it, but nothing serious. There is only one other person I've heard of that does something similar - this.
------------
Don't shoot in hard sunlight like that, especially for portraits. That kind of light also makes any form of split toning look nasty. Play with the curves, and fix the white balance. Be weary of over-correcting and bumping up the saturation too much. I think there is a preset in LR called 'flat curve' that should give you a pretty good starting point. Also work on your framing: the dude's foot being cut off is irritating and the half-girl on the right is distracting. Don't rely on the ability to crop as a solution to this, make it a habit to think about framing when you take your shots. Framing is far more important than 'composition' and is commonly overlooked.

Here are a few shots from my ride tonight.

I started to think that this one was really interesting. In a bizarre sort of way. The expressions, the dog's gaze, the fluffy thongs.
As a standalone picture - if I knew nothing about it, I'd like it a lot, but the other's shots sort of put it into context for me.

Also, I still listen to jazz when editing. But I don't spend much time doing it.
