I like this.

Try not to let the tip of the handle get cut off like that though, if you're gonna have some of the "knife" or server or whatever it is cut out, then i'd cut out more of it and have the blade as the focus of the picture. You get what I mean?

Whenever I take pictures outside I always get purple fringing around things? I mean I have it at 1.4-1.8 but I would rather not stop it down because I like the effect. What could I do to prevent this?

Quick and dirty method would be to just desaturate the purples.

It's saved a few of mine when I've shot wide open.

You can't really prevent it if you don't stop down, but you can easily remove most of the fringing in Photoshop or lightroom

If you upload them to flickr it will auto generate thumbnails of various sizes.

Well I was at an automotive hillclimb today. Got some good shots. There was one crash at the event - pretty nasty. Nearly decapitated two marshals, and if any tyres had come loose would have killed me.
