The Creative Photography Thread - If It Ain't Bokeh, Don't Fix It

[Bengley]

In this order:

Went to Brighton
took lots of pictures
got drunk (no pictures i'm not taking my camera to a beach party are you mad)
sat outside train station at 1am playing loud music and dropped, smashed full vodka bottle in budgens D:
tried very hard to get back
got back
slept
took more pictures
went home
found pebble from beach in back pocket
couldn't decide which photos to upload so uploaded most of them
posted this lousy post

anytime someone labels their facebook stuff "My photography:P", "~my art~", "hay guys im a professional photographer check my stuff", it's always terribad.

also Banned User, I saw you locked the terribad thread. I thought it had potential, but he came at it aggressively. SA has the same thread and it's one of the more popular, it was his inspiration. I think if it wasn't the 'bash stupid photos' approach it could be a learning experience in 'what to avoid'.

I don't really have the lens for a good close-up shot of the moon but I tried. I've been weaning myself off of being lazy and actually thinking what my settings mean instead of guessing. Been too busy with work to touch my camera for ages but saw the big moon tonight and just had to.

I know it's nothing amazing but thanks FP for helping me understand how to use manual a lot more :h: (some people helped me in I think the previous Photography thread before this one). I went from taking auto shots of the moon that were big white spheres to actually catching detail of the moon fairly well for the fairly low-end lens I was using.

Now if only I had a decent lens for night photography ... Any recommendations? :v:

Sadly the SA thread turns into an elitist circlejerk after a few pages. It was certainly hilarious, but then they start bashing photos that aren't even too bad. I have a feeling our thread might have turned into the same thing.

All I wanted was to avoid any sort of confrontation between ourselves, because we all know each other and each others work, and the last thing we need is a thread allowing us to be just plain mean about other peoples photos. The conclusion would have surly been a negative one had the thread actually been allowed to go forward.
