That looks 100% like a place I know of in Norway (In the summer obviously)
Where is that?
I took them near my home in Newbury Park, California.
never thought of that..... you may be right lol
Don't get a gorillapod, they're barely capable of holding a dSLR let alone bigger lenses.
actually i think they hold reasonably well (provided it's not the smaller model)
i put a lot of faith in mine hanging it over all edges and stuff
mrcsb. Why haven't I seen you post any of your pictures?
a lot of people on FP have thought I'm an asshole and I just don't want to tie anything here to my actual identity
and the only shots I'd post are the ones that would give my identity away
I'm paranoid about privacy issues and think people care more than they actually do
but enough about me, I am not important, nor am I amazing (though I am competent)
Went to the west coast of Denmark this weekend. Lovely weather!

this is fantastic. the monolithic structure makes it feels like something out the ruins of some sort of dystopian society, and the drab tones really add to that
on a side note I believe you may have some dust on your sensor or lens... not noticeable in the picture itself but if you look you can tell

went location scouting with my brother :v: the over-processed look is intentional, it was an experiment.
nice dof. aperture?
1.4 :)
ive noticed having foliage that goes to the sides of the subject gives a much better shallow-DOF portrait, its adds relativity and you can actually see the DOF as it goes further out of focus. had trouble wording that, but you can see what im talking about.
Ugh I can't wait to get my 1.4 so I can take awesome pictures like that.
The kit lens is nice, but can only do so much with it.
50mm is so handy on a full frame and tight on a crop.
*Sigh* I spent all of my lens savings on the new body.. just gotta save up again.
And great.. 2 weeks of ad revenue.. this will get me that £90 quickly!

I need to make money. With lots of shite bands around I could take photos of them, like £20 a shoot. £10 a gig if they get me in for free.
Sounds like a plan.. pity I'm too shite a photographer to advertise on Gumtree.. Codename, you got prelims next week?
I did mine in December. S5 doing there's now. Sound like an edinbrugh meetup next weekend? Maybe roll_program can grace us with his superiority.
Ah yeah thats me in S5.. what are you? No can do for next weekend, most of my prelims are the Mon Tues and Wed of that week.

Photoshop has a new tool, just crop out the people it will auto fill it with what would be there if the people were not.
50mm is so handy on a full frame and tight on a crop.
A lot of people hear that the 50 is too tight on the crop, but think they can get the same results if they just back up a bit. sadly, even though the 50 becomes an 85mm on a crop, it doesn't have 85 DOF, because it's cropped. the level of DOF is the same on a given lens no matter how big your sensor is, it just depends on how 'much' bokeh you can cram on the sensor. thats why i can get 105mm 'style' DOF on my medium format camera, but its about a 50mm equivalent to a 35mm camera. my 105mm 2.4 medium format lens looks pretty exactly like the 50 1.4 on my 5d.
that said, the 1.8 is the best lens you can buy for the price, regardless of how much bokeh you can suck out of it. even if you don't like 50mm lenses its too cheap to pass up. $100 will not get you anything better. if you're looking at a 50 1.4 on a crop, sacrifice the .4 f/stop and get a 28 1.8. it might not be a 1.4, but it gives you what a 50 1.8 looks like on a fullframe camera.
fullframe + 50 1.8 = $2700
fullframe + 50 1.4 = $3000
crop + 50 1.8 = ~$700
crop + 50 1.4 = ~$1000
crop + 28 1.8 = ~$1000, !!! this gives you the exact same results (optically speaking) as a fullframe + 50 1.8, for almost a third of the total price.
I've had a bit to drink, please excuse me. This should be in which camera, but I'm replying to a specific post, so its good.
Too tight = step back.
50's and shit
for nikon users there is a 35 1.8 for $200 which is equivalent to around 52.5 mm
also whipped up this dinky avatar of an FD 50 1.4
Still planning on picking up the 35 1.8 seeing as I've been going to lots of places and taking portraits of my friends.
it's a great buy, lovely little lens
Too tight = step back.
Problem is your field of view is narrowed meaning it looks zoomed. Of course I don't give a shit because for $100 I won't mind. Still planning on picking up the 35 1.8 seeing as I've been going to lots of places and taking portraits of my friends.
The 50mm f/1.4 is far more worth it than the 50mm f/1.8 or 35mm f/1.8.
I'm going to save up for a 50mm f/1.2. I've always thought that if I buy/upgrade something I need to do so with a huge leap, otherwise it's just not worth it. For example I just upgraded to 5D Mark II from 350D that I've had for 5 years and 18-50mm f/2.8 EF-S to 24-70mm L f/2.8
The 50mm f/1.4 is far more worth it than the 50mm f/1.8 or 35mm f/1.8.
Is there really that much of an image quality difference in the 1.4 versus the 1.8?
