I do, Aperture 3, but why is this a "white balance problem"
I enjoy the colors in this photo, but oh well
He says that because your photos look very yellow tinted and unnatural.
I think it's too yellow. But at least you like 'em! :buddy:
Also your photos need more a defined subject.

The first one would look really nice if it had a little editing.
I wasn't too please with how this turned out. :saddowns: What do you guys think?

Really like it, but perhaps place the subject more towards the right or left?

sorry about the dust
Really like it, but perhaps place the subject more towards the right or left?
I could've but I personally prefer shots like this to have the subject in the center.
Still the white balance problem.
Do you have any post editing software? Because it's hard to achieve the right white balance at night
This is more of a color correction thing, that is just beyond me atm, so far I'm coming out with too little of the color or just a bit too much. I can't find that middle you know.
I could've but I personally prefer shots like this to have the subject in the center.
But the focus (or at least where my eyes rest naturally in the photograph) is on the flame, which isn't in the centre.
If it was, it would mean that the subject would be on one side - most probably the left.
rawwwwrgh, just got back last night from the convention. Lots of fun, lots of pics to show you guys, but it's not edited up yet for the most part.
Got a few cheap protips, though-
for light-painting lovers, try using a flash set to Rear Curtain. It freezes the scene at the last second and makes it seem like they're drawing trails in the air

for dramatic scene lovers, the right lighting is everything. Try bouncing your flash off the floor if you want to change the situation to fit the subject

for people with less than acceptable lighting, get a damn flash. If the environment is badly lit, you'll get crappy pictures. These two pictures were taken in P mode on my camera, with and without flash.

as an added bonus, does the environment suck or have you used it fifty times before? CHANGE IT

alright, back to work with me. Lots of cool breakdancing pictures too, if anyone's interested.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean.

I'm off to bed now guys.
Have some shots of my mate running with a palm frond on fire.
I didn't have a tripod for these, so just had to improvise with a chair. You can tell... But it's okay I think.

A very interesting point you bring up. I think you're right. Thanks!

I guess this photo is a tough one - since there are two contrasting light temperatures.
I guess this photo is a tough one - since there are two contrasting light temperatures.
It was very tough. So I tried having it half and half.
Did I mention that there is a lot of sleet on the roads?
Did I mention that there is a lot of sleet on the roads?
Slippery walk then?
In perspective though, the D90 isn't that great with high ISO. I took some pictures with my Canon 7D at ISO 6400, ran them through a bit of noise reduction and they still looked pretty good. Ofcourse this depends on the scene. Daylight shootings with high ISO number usually give better results than shooting in low-light situations.
Really? Because I've had a great experience with D90 ISO performance, and quite a lot of other people feel that it is comparable to the 7D.
Although if you want a real kicker, check out this gallery of the D3s. God damn now that's a beast at ISO performance.

More specifically, look at sample image 38. Oh 102400 ISO, yeah it's a breeze. Then even more specifically, be blown away at sample 42.
Alright, I said I was going to bed - I am now.
But I'll leave you with one more.

It's my father. We were sitting in a cafe while I was visiting him on set while he was shooting of 'Bed of Roses'.
He's using it as his cover photo now.
I feel proud.

Anyway, tonight's been a busy night for this thread.
Sleep well everyone.
Love love.
I give you this. In 1024x685. I want to print this large someday.
What do you think?

I love it.
Looks kinda bland
Looks kinda bland
Glad you shared your opinion. Nothing is really going on in this picture, therefore it might look bland. But consider the view and not the story.
There's no scale reference to those cliff/hill things. To me they look like some uninteresting small mud hills

Just an attempt at this HDR thing
I can't see it

You can actually see some people near the water halfway down the coast.
