It's a beautiful shot but I think the you could bring out the colours a bit more.

?
That barely looks different.
He brought out the blues which makes it a bit colder, but its quite hard to see a difference. Cold look certainly suits it, but maybe a bit more colour.

[QUOTE=Nonikai;27793258]Today was the first day in the winter that the sun went over the mountains. I missed the main light today, but have a few.

Best one of the bunch. Just straighten out the horizon because right now I get an almost falling feeling from it.

A photo from christmas time.
Sweet bokeh.
I had to fix it a little since there were some circles inside the bokeh circles. My guess is that the lens wasn't completly clean but I didn't really bother with that.

the ice on all the branches makes a sort of natural chromatic aberration, the forest next to my house has a slight orange glow.
Nice stuff as always bopie, wish I had a medium format camera.
Where do you live, Bopie?
Okay, that sounded creepy.

Looked a lot like the photos from your medium format, what lens(es) do you use?

I only have two lenses, one for each camera. For medium format, I have a Takumar SMC 105mm f/2.4 (this works out to be a ~50mm ~f/1.4), on my 5D I have the 50 1.4.
It's all I need. Ever since I've had my 50 1.4 i stopped drooling over lenses and I'm free to buy other stuff without thinking "that could have gone to a 24-70 2.8, etc". All I'm really worried about now are developing costs.
I've put roughly $700 into medium format including film, and $3200 into my 5Dii including the 1.4, memory card, etc.

How different is an 50mm f1.4 when compared to a f1.8?
It has a certain 'look' to the pictures that the 1.8 just doesn't have.
The 1.8 was great when I had it though :) It's an entry priced prime that betters USM level zooms.
the 1.4 is a mid level prime that competes with (and beats) L zooms.

edit: nvmd about blades
metal mount
slightly faster
focus window
sharpness are actually about the same on crop so basically its a bit faster, produces a bit better IQ, and is better built

Ton of ice everywhere, all over the roads. I'm not complaining

That's ridiculous. There's ice everywhere here too, under the ~6 inches of snow, and we still have to go to school.
there's a car-shaped snowman outside my window

Haven't done an update in a while. Had fun trespassing to get those field and letterbox shots, focus was off on a lot of them so its a bit of a salvage. Let me know how the colours appear as its a tad more vibrant on my MBP display than my Dell which I edited them on.
