I'm lovin this one. The lighting is fantastic.
Take it my displays are calibrated fine then, phew! Thanks for the comment, couldn't quite get satisfactory results with the colours/lighting right in LR but just went what I felt most happy with.
[img_thumb]http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/5409393586_b914fcd48c_b.jpg[/img_thumb]
Spooky! See some compression on the jacket and face near the light. Street lighting gives really nice lighting!

The ones I put up an hour ago were dragged into my Flickr Publish service in Lightroom, guessing you did the same? If so double click on the Flickr bit where it says your name and go to Edit Settings, I double checked to see if mine was at 100.
Well there you have it. Mine were at 80.
20 makes all the difference eh? To be fair it's not really noticeable, I lean in sometimes to look at things and first thought was "is that a pattern?" Better spotted now than in the future when you've uploaded dozens if not hundreds and then notice it!
Tried my own self portrait, had to use a lamp in my living room though. Looks a little dramatic in my opinion but turned out better than I thought it would.
deeeeefinitely stuck at my office for a few days. Snow is knee-deep against the front door, and the drifts are about as high as my car's mirrors, not counting the snow climbing over the car. At the same time, my friend's car is just a few spaces over and completely untouched, in fact you can see the asphault underneath his car quite clearly. :argh: I'm gonna try and get snow-related pictures for my challenge, but right now it's just blizzard conditions and all I can see outside is a streetlight, showing the density and direction of the snow... which is just whipping everywhere, including up. maybe I'll tunnel out of the office tomorrow and take pictures of my new snow fort
Here's some pictures I took a while ago using my Sony a200. (Looking to upgrade to a Nikon D5000, any thoughts?) Dripping kitchen tap into a baking tray full of water. If you've ever thought it's difficult to take photos of splashes like this, it really isn't. I just used an entry level DSLR, a tripod, self timer, the integrated flash and half an hour's worth of snapping. Came out with about 20 decent ones. Don't want to make this post too massive so I'll post more you guys like these.
damn, good work. My only gripe is that you're considering buying a camera that's relatively in the same price range and not much of a jump as far as the upgrade is concerned. I'd say save for a while and get a better camera, you're doing pretty good with what you've got so far and I bet you can use some extra power.
this is a current picture of my street in michigan.

Does anybody know why my jpegs come out desaturated compared to the RAWs? I'm guessing it's got something to do with AdobeRGB and SRGB... I'm shooting in SRGB and processing in either Lightroom or Photoshop CS5 and exporting with AdobeRGB. Should I switch my camera to use Adobe, or should I change something in post? Edit: Exporting with SRGB doesn't change anything, still desaturated compared to the RAW.

You don't need one to take good photos!
You don't need one to take good photos!
Agreed, I took this with a P&S.. It's kinda over-processed but I like it. I'm just waiting for that kinda weather now with my DSLR. :D
You don't need one to take good photos!
i think i take alright photos with film...but it is not instant. i have to wait to take all the pictures and then develop them. I don't have any new photos. i will in a week or two though...

Getting photos develop from months or even longer back and finally viewing them would be a great feeling too. I'd really like to try developing my own film photos someday, if I get into uni maybe. Opinions?
I like the texture of the wood, seems aged and has dents to show for that like my desks. The light exposed from the window dulls the colours of the flowers and everything to the left side of the photo. Personally I'd feel you'd want nice bright colours from the flowers.
Another one for you!

Seeing this made me scared. Especially because it's on the same path. :ohdear: But anyways! I think it could be a bit brighter! That is all! :buddy: [editline]2nd February 2011[/editline] The middle two seem a bit orange and I can't really see what the defined subject of the photo is. Except for the first and last.
Yeah, the 2 middle ones were when i was messing with the white balance, 2nd to last subject was the stranded car It was fun taking them, a cop even stopped his car to talk to me about how it's a nice time to take pictures :buddy: Visibility was bad at some points though, then this
