I just keep my strap around my neck
Not quite photography, but I filmed it with my D3100. Just finished a test of Tilt Shift in After Effects. This is at my high school. Exported in medium quality just because it is a test. The finished version of this will have music and my school said they would like to use it for an intro to our "morning annoucements" which they broadcast over an inter-school tv system. I didn't have a tripod handy when I shot this, so I might go back and reshoot it, but I thought the tilt shift worked relatively well. "The Cat's Eye" is the name of our announcements thing.
Personally, I'd change the placement and font of the text. I'd make it somewhere near the bottom. Right where the curve of the people are. Font wise, I don't know. I just don't think that font really matches with the scene
I couldn't find one that could. I'll fuck about with placement though. If you have any font suggestions I would appreciate it.
I said in the previous post. Try putting it somewhere where the curve of the side walk is at the bottom. [editline]3rd February 2011[/editline] I believe I got super drowned. So I'll repost. What do you guys think of this? Any suggestions? CC is always appreciated Shades! by Bohan Pang, on Flickr
I just keep my strap around my neck
I would, but having the camera be limited to the 1 foot extension of the strap from my neck is incredibly annoying. It's why I keep my camera tethered to my arm. I get mobility and freedom that way.

I'm kinda new into photography, what do you guys think of these? [img_thumb]http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x192/killerelf12/untitled-24.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x192/killerelf12/untitled-8.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x192/killerelf12/untitled-7.jpg[/Img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x192/killerelf12/untitled-1.jpg[/img_thumb] Took them last spring at a track meet, was still getting used to the camera.
Well then what do I do to get there? It would be helpful if you could give me an idea what its missing.
How exactly do you tether is around your arm? I'd like to learn how you do it. It might be a better way for me to carry my camera
Exactly like this: So you have the strap on your hand, and you twist it once so you can put your hand through and it make a loop. I just do that two or three times and it's on there solidly. Occasionally I'll make the final loop around the palm of my hand so I've always got a grip on the strap, so if I do drop the camera I can just close my hand and grasp the strap. Also does anyone have any scientific papers or sources about lens optics? I've got to write a 15 page research paper about something I love and photography would be a nice topic. Only problem is I can't find a decent source talking specifically about camera lenses. It's always about single glass elements, but lenses have multiple elements inside + aperture + focal distance, etc. It'd be nice to have a specific source so I don't actually have to do the science behind each individual glass element.
I use the "Death Grip" where you wrap your elbow AND wrist. It basically turns your arm into a monopod.
on the point of the camera straps, I've got a hand-strap on one hand and a hefty padded strap that unbuckles when I don't need it. The leftover straps can buckle together and become a loop to hang on my wrist or hold tight to stabilize video. Pictures in a few minutes, doing some other transfers with my mem cards right now.

I took this picture some days ago and I absolutely love it. Just needs some editing with the light. Messed with Photoshop after taking a set of photos to layer down. Honestly, I don't know if I did it right. Though the eraser tool did me some justice. Pictures are of my Cousin Ken. (Warning, High Res)
damn, good work. My only gripe is that you're considering buying a camera that's relatively in the same price range and not much of a jump as far as the upgrade is concerned. I'd say save for a while and get a better camera, you're doing pretty good with what you've got so far and I bet you can use some extra power.
This was my worry also. I can get a Pentax K-5 from my local store for £1200 (with 18-55 and 50-200 lenses) which I think will be a much better option, but twice the price. Time to start saving.

DAMNIT, Delivery on my 1.4 50mm has been delayed due to weather conditions. The worse always hits me all at once.

If you really want to challenge yourself and impress people, motion track each letter of the title to a different person in the croud and throw in some simple transitions (mblur+opacity). That's how I'd do it anyways.
:buddy: I know this isn't a photo, but i'm just excited and it's my first lens i'm buying Expect to see some photos in the following days. :)

I got the 1.8 and for ages I used it for everything.
I'm still using the 1.8 I don't think I'll upgrade any time soon.
