Wondering if I should get a negative film scanner (unless it's better to get the photos developed and then use a regular scanner?) and try this thing out again. Has a nice 50mm f1.8 on it, sadly it's got a few fungus threads but it shouldn't affect the photos too much.
Ordered a YONGNUO YN460, a cheap flash alternative. Hoping it will arrive soon.

Give us a review please/sample pictures as I'm thinking of getting one.

If your serious about film photography I would get an Epson V500 / V700 (depending on your budget) I got my V500 for $150US from B&H (w/o postage) so I'm sure you could get one for about 80 pounds.
I'm using cheap shit kodak ultramax 400 (although I have some ektar coming in the mail!) and I get about 10 usable megapixels.
Considering I already have a DSLR I don't think it would be worth it, should I sell it?
Took this while at my school's sports day.

Well that depends on if your going to use the camera, and 35mm film has a different "feel" to it
more experimenting with flash, this one had 2x 580EXII's one camera left and one camera right, camera right is aimed directly at the AE-1P at 1/128 power while the 580 camera left is at 1/4 aimed at the ceiling.

My first time trying to photograph stuff like this.

C&C please! What should I do to improve? What did I do right/wrong?
The only thing that really annoys me is the glare. There are Lens filters that can remove those right?
I also have one with soy sauce, I'll post it later.

did i mention i got a 50mm?
Guys I have a question. When I first started taking a photography class in High School, the requirement was an SLR camera. I ended up buying a used Canon EOS Rebel Ti body and a Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II (Not sure what some of that means, but anyway) for it. Then as I got more skilled, I decided to buy a DSLR. I bought a used Canon EOS Rebel XS body and it came with a kit lens (18-55mm or something like that). I've been using the EF 50mm 1.8 II on the Rebel XS (DSLR) body for almost all of my shots over the past 2 years. My Photo instructor mentioned that my 50mm lens wasn't actually shooting at 50mm because it was an SLR lens on a DSLR. My question is this:
If it isn't shooting at 50mm, what is it shooting at and why is there a difference?
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Your XS has a crop-factor of 1.6x. Basically, it means any lens you attach is "cropped" because the thing that detects the image in your camera is smaller than a bit of film. It's about 80mm on your camera. If you mount the lens on your Ti and look through the viewfinder, you will see it's fairly wider in comparison to it on your XS.
I own the 50mm 1.8 II, and it is an amazing lens. There is a crop applied to it. It's complicated stuff at first, go read up on crop factors and stuff, you will learn a lot.
This is the difference:

When the 50mm is cropped I find it way too small, something like a 30mm is much more useful when using a cropped sensor.
Or you could walk back a few feet.
Heh thanks for all the replies everyone. I'll definitely look into it, it seems pretty interesting.
Or you could walk back a few feet.
You know people always say this, but there are pleeeeeeeeenty of times where this simply isn't possible
Or you could walk back a few feet.
Or I can say what I've been saying for the past few days, you still lose the angle of your field of view, meaning no matter how far back you step, it still looks zoomed. The 50mm un-cropped looks pretty wide, but cropped, it loses that wide angle quality.
Or you could walk back a few feet.
I take a lot of pictures inside, so that's not possible a lot of the time.
Okay guys. 600 dollars to blow. A new flash or a new lens? :buddy:

Why not both?
cc?
What's there to say? Haha, I've seen this done like a million time through the whole thread.
yeah, it's just a picture of a camera with obnoxious split toning applied
I don't get all these pseudo-ironic camera-centric self-portraits but you guys have a lot more skill than that
Why not both?
Not enough for both. :saddowns:

All I have to say is that it's generic and uh... I'm too big of a fan of the split toning done.
Sondre Lerche is the best thing to listen to while viewing this thread.

Well depends on what lenses you already have. I personally would go with the flash.
