My first time trying to photograph stuff like this. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11323379/DSC_2378888.jpg[/img_thumb] C&C please! What should I do to improve? What did I do right/wrong? The only thing that really annoys me is the glare. There are Lens filters that can remove those right? I also have one with soy sauce, I'll post it later.
I think it's an excellent shot. But next time, I'd center it (that's just me, others are different) and probably get it properly in focus. It's a bit blurry, know what I mean? [editline]5th February 2011[/editline]
Well depends on what lenses you already have. I personally would go with the flash.
I have the Standard Kit Lens and the 50mm f/1.8 II
I have the Standard Kit Lens and the 50mm f/1.8 II
Then get a flash.
I wouldn't spend all that much on a flash though, considering if you just need a diffuser you can make your own.
I agree, it isn't really "Crisp" sharp.
How exactly do you get good focus in water? I got mine by putting a pen in the water and then using AF, and then switching to M. The poor quality is probably because of my D40. Fucking thing sucks.
Then get a flash.
In about a month I'll have enough for the 580EX II! But I don't know if I'll need it. :/ [editline]5th February 2011[/editline]
How exactly do you get good focus in water? what sort of lens do you want? noone ever listens to me but you could get a lumopro lp160 and still have $450 available for a lens, imo ttl flashes are overrated
what sort of lens do you want? noone ever listens to me but you could get a lumopro lp160 and still have $450 available for a lens, imo ttl flashes are overrated
Not sure what kind of lens but I'll take recommendations
Compared to the other one, is this one better? I think it looks alot more sharper in the important areas. I gotta do something about that glare. Also, is it just me or is the pic really fucking huge?
well im not certain of us prices but i think you could get either a EF 24mm f2.8 or EF 100mm F2.8 USM Macro and still afford a non-ttl flash

Gotta make one some day.

I'd like to see just one "droplet" floating, that would be awesome if you could do it. Probably could with vinegar?
well im not certain of us prices but i think you could get either a EF 24mm f2.8 or EF 100mm F2.8 USM Macro and still afford a non-ttl flash
I don't really have a use for the 24mm and the 100mm Macro is out of my price range.
I'd like to see just one "droplet" floating, that would be awesome if you could do it. Probably could with vinegar?
I think it'd be possible, but I'd need some coloring, since vinegar is the same "color" as water.
I think it'd be possible, but I'd need some coloring, since vinegar is the same "color" as water.
Balsamic Vinegar then. [editline]5th February 2011[/editline] The 85mm f/1.8 looks tempting...
I just bought a Pentax 50mm f/1.7 in perfect condition at a Garage Sale. Previous owner says never used it once and that it's been sitting in his garage ever sense he purchased it. :D Will this work so I Can stick it on my T1i? http://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Adapter-Dandelion-Confirmation-adapter/dp/B003Y3EJMU/ref=pd_cp_p_1 [editline]5th February 2011[/editline] For $5, If you folks don't hear from me its probably because the lens is haunted or something. Thats usually the reason why people practically give things away...Right?
if it's SMC you could get about a hundred dollars for it.

You are improving though.
if it's SMC you could get about a hundred dollars for it.
SMC Pentax-F, I think I'm going too keep it. I really like the images it produces. Is there any kind of Adapter too stick it onto my T1i? I've been just holding it up too my camera the entire day. Theres probably some cheap ones on ebay.
I think it'd be possible, but I'd need some coloring, since vinegar is the same "color" as water.
Then try using the vinegar in place of water???
Okay so I've come to a conclusion, I'm either going to get the 85mm f/1.8 USM or Speedlite 430EX II next.
My brother was talking to the editor of the local magazine and suggested me as a photographer for him. Its just one guy and he said he would be interested so could do that. Pays in experience, just concerned that my 18-55mm kit lens, 50mm 1.8 and lack of flash head would be limiting, considering its a lot of event and portrait stuff.
bounce flash essential
bounce flash essential
Know of a cheap, decent Nikon compatible one? I know so little about flashes and other odd types of gear.
SB-600 is what you want. It will keep going on and on
