No one really ever really has anything to say about my photos so i guess ill be looking for new ways to make them stand out, honestly though, i can't compete with you guys. Anyways, here are my latest. Just figured i'd throw this in there, my dad bought a new monitor for the computer and it made everything 2X better, so now i can use the highest resolution for taking pictures on my camera ( 3648 X 2736 ) and use it as a wallpaper, it looks amazing!
I think it's stunning.

the symmetry works perfectly there
Thanks! Also, two other ones from earlier today: I think, at least colour-wise, they seem to have turned out better than other photos of people I've taken before (my camera seems rather intent on making everything have a slightly magenta-ey quality to it (or more likely it's just my failure at editing)) C&C once again very welcome!
:ohdear: ... Do tell.
Aah fuck I got distracted and forgot what it was. Bullfuck it was a good idea too.

so I've been required to have a signature on all my stuff now, got yelled at by facebook because they thought I wasn't a legitimate business page or something. Apparently you can't have anything good without looking like a 14 year old girl collecting artsy pictures for attention. Ah, well, might as well be a little more protective and get my name solidified so no one collects my stuff v:raise:v in the meantime, I went antiquing thinking about editing the floor, I hate generic tan linoleum tiles
What is facepunch's opinion on the Nikon D3100?
What is facepunch's opinion on the Nikon D3100?
As gathered by this thread and the last, nothing but positive.
What is facepunch's opinion on the Nikon D3100?
if that's your budget, that's definitely your camera. Invest in a flash like the SB-600 if you can as well, it wields unholy photographical power. Oh, and Bopie, gonna ask for a little help, or at least some permission. I'm writing up a bloggin' rant about "the Hipster Effect", and would like to use you as an example or two. Nothing negative, you're on my good side :v: I'd also like help digging up poor examples, laying out all the methods and what people should and should not do, and providing a little insight to your side of the story, so I don't get too much into a tangent.
I got you bro. I'll pm you some links to nasty shite I find on flickr as I stumble upon them.
Invest in a flash like the SB-600 if you can as well, it wields unholy photographical power.
Yikes, pricey. Doesn't stop me wanting one though. If only I hadn't been made redundant on Christmas Eve. :smith:
in the meantime, I went antiquing thinking about editing the floor, I hate generic tan linoleum tiles
It's a nice motive so why exactly do you want to edit it? Don't get me wrong, you can do whatever you want to but I don't like the way how some people are dealing with their photos. Everything seems in need to be edited like it's the first automated step after pushing the trigger whereas the real effort lays in capturing a moment instead of processing and raping a picture in Photoshop or Lightroom for hours with the help of some horrible filters. I hate where this trend is going. I know that the days of analog photography are over but people simply need to rethink their way of shooting pictures. Don't you dare to make a photo and say to yourself "Well, it's not that good but Photoshop will do its job of making it awesome ... somehow!" Neither the camera is the artist nor the software, you are.
hey, I shoot film, I love the habits it promotes. I have 1 chance for every shot and if I screw it up, I don't have a photo. I think it has helped me improve because you learn to get it right.

Some stuff I shot last weekend at an exhibition. Neither the camera is the artist nor the software, you are.
I make this point a lot, actually, that you shouldn't take a picture with editing in mind. It was a post-thought, and honestly I took the picture for the aesthetic. I found the violin, found an old door, moved junk out of the way and placed the items. It was the act of art before the fact, designing my shot in person, but I didn't expect the floor to be just that ugly in the shot. Sure, it adds to the worn down building thing, but I can do a dozen things to make a different floor and fit it well.
pics from christmas tree hunting. the iso was too low. more later i got to catch the metro to school.
well, who is buying?
£600? TOUCH SCREEN FOCUS? NEVER
Didn't realise it was taking a strong effect on pros, thought it was worth sharing. £600? TOUCH SCREEN FOCUS? NEVER
$600 not £600.
OH SHI http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/click_online/9387518.stm
for how they talked about it, it seems every yokel can sign up and start making money with their old point-and-click on Getty, like making an account on deviant art. Looking at the site, they have rather restrictive limitations on how you can even post stuff, and to get accepted you need an existing gallery with a minimum of 40 acceptable submissions ready to be reviewed and eaten up.

Wondering if I should start giving titles to my photos. Anyway here's some stuff I took with my new(old) lens today. Would really appreciate it as I've not had my DSLR for long. I'll post the rest later.

Is it a good camera?
