I got a 450D a few days back... first time using an SLR. This is my first "proper" photo with it, which I'm pretty satisfied with. Some opinions would be nice :) [img_thumb]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5138/5442222406_a92bbc25c3.jpg[/img_thumb]
First thing that struck me is; SINCE WHEN DID THE RIVER TAY LOOK SO STILL!? This picture makes me miss Scotland :(
Expect come august a huge influx of images of.........my month long trip to India!
is canon like intel and nikon like AMD? is that an apt comparison?
First thing that struck me is; SINCE WHEN DID THE RIVER TAY LOOK SO STILL!? This picture makes me miss Scotland :(
Haha aye it was a very still day, no wind for once. Still cold though! Where you from in Scotland, and where are you now?
Great, Brian, you picked out one photo from an experiment with warm flourescent bulbs as the only light source to call yellow. The point is you do it to virtually all your photos now and it feels less and less appealing as it appears more like you saved a filter and apply it to everything just because that's what you do, not to mention the blue'd black point strains my eyes in trying to compensate for what appears to be a little fog in my vision. I can't possibly be the only one, but whatever. I understand a client will only see their own work and love the way it looks, it's different and looks good. I used to like the crisp look of most of your older work, despite the fact you still blued or yellowed the occasional shot at the time. The quality of your work has improved over time regardless of what you do to it in the end, no question there. I just wish your attitude towards anything that isn't glowing praise had improved alongside it.
Oh god those two are disgusting.
I feel shy posting here sometimes when everyone's stuff is so cool. :h: I just need to get more light in the afternoons as I just don't get the time otherwise to play with my camera. I like to take animal photos but am failing greatly at capturing them without blurs (my pets) I think I also need some better lighting for them as the fur is always so noisy. I know it isn't a ground breaking shot but I liked it anyway back when I took it at Christmas. I think I more just like their decorations though. :v: [img_thumb]http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/8131/windowi.jpg[/img_thumb]
Also here's another one I took on that same day out... I don't think it's quite as appealing as the bridge one, but I think the multiple exposures worked relatively well. I'm really enjoying this camera. How irritating.
I like it, I think it may have looked cooler in portrait instead of landscape. I love how the gazebo pops out of the image too.

Lighting indoors is never very good. You should post more pictures though!
is canon like intel and nikon like AMD? is that an apt comparison?
Well I prefer Canon and Intel to Nikon and AMD. So maybe.
Portrait would have been cool, but I had to use a tripod because it is a HDR image so unfortunately I had to keep it landscape. I guess I could crop it, but then it might be too dominant. Thanks though :D
Well I prefer Canon and Intel to Nikon and AMD. So maybe.
I would consider Nikon to be Intel, and AMD to be Cannon. AMD has a better performance for the buck, but the ultimate performance in an unlimited price range goes to Intel (Nikon)
Am I the only one who uses Olympus here?
Haha, thank you. I appreciate it. :) And yeah, I was pretty much referring to the others I saw posting in this thread with much better pictures than I and getting no comments. But yeah, very nice of you <3 And here, have a happy little froggy in gratitude.
Haha aye it was a very still day, no wind for once. Still cold though! Where you from in Scotland, and where are you now?
Nah I'm from Leeds in sunny England but my Girlfriend lives in Fife so I spent alot of time up there last year
Also I made my pic into a background if anyone is interested in using it. it's 1920x1080
I would consider Nikon to be Intel, and AMD to be Cannon. AMD has a better performance for the buck, but the ultimate performance in an unlimited price range goes to Intel (Nikon)
See I would agree with this. Nikon is more expensive than Canon and vastly entry level limited, but at the end of the day the higher level Nikon cameras are the best you can buy (D3 I'm looking at you). Then again, I think it's also an unfair comparison because the camera market is so vastly different than the CPU market. Edit: Nikon is also having a hard time adjusting. Canon is really dominating right now because of their technical advancements with video and other features in their SLRs. Nikon is still almost strictly imaging, and it's clear when comparing the Canon 7D to D7000. Video on the D7000 still seems like it was tacked on at the last minute, while imaging features of the D7000 are better developed. Of course I am a Nikon fanboy so I'm obviously biased, but I'm much less of a fanboy with cameras than I am with, say, graphics cards or the like.
The CPU market is more about straight out power. I think the Camera market is more to do with preference. Nikon may be "the best" in the end, but I don't think I'll ever buy one simply becuase I've always used canons and all my lenses and shit are for canons.

The reason I use Nikon is because it's what I bought first. Had I purchased a Canon first I would be siding with them.
Guys, we got a thread to house that discussion
Do you pay these models you shoot with? They're fucking lush. [editline]13th February 2011[/editline] Never paid a model in my life. They pay me. It would have been cool if you'd put a tilt-shift style close focus on the railing, and then hand edited that to look more HL2-ey whilst dropping the gaussian blur on the remainder of the shot. [editline]13th February 2011[/editline] Frog looks pretty out-of-focus and the general scene is pretty boring, You should have zoomed to get it to fill the frame more, lowering your F as much as possible whilst retaining a sharp focus, and then arranging your position to get a better angle (horizon level or something more creative).

You probably get blur because of slow shutterspeeds. Lighting indoors is never very good.
