I'm not much a fan of... pretty much anything else on that deviant's gallery.
I was thinking I could take a series of pictures from the brecon beacons to the sea (possibly southerndown beach) Like I was going from the mountains to the coasts.

I don't know... I quite like this:
I'm no natural history pro but what you could do (I don't even know if it'd count) is have a series of images that transition from total nature (a forest with massive trees), to low density farming, to high density farming, to low density residential, to high density residential, to the CBD.
But then again, 10 pictures isn't much to convey that.

Think about what you want to tell with your pictures. To me those could've been taking by a carpenter for work purposes.
The last one though, has something special about it. But the rest - to be honest - is not very good or interesting.
Try to work on stories, purpose and meaning.

And of course the first one is by far the best. I like the light and the details in the wood. It's kinda spooky.

for one thing, the last 3 images all look pretty much the same, be selective in what you post. I have a multi-tiered selectivity process (film).
1)Is it worth photographing?
2)Is it worth scanning
3)Is it worth uploading to Flickr
4)Is it worth posting on Facepunch

You should get into Photography, It's a really cool Hobby. It's fun too learn about the various techniques and be able too capture moments in a really awesome way. I use it as an excuse too get out of the house every once in a while :) Sure it can get expensive fast, but I think it's worth it. It's way better then spending it on Alcohol or Drugs (Which is what most kids in my area do unfortunately)
Edit:
This sounded way better in my head.

bah, expensive, go film :smug:
my photos technically look as good as anything from a DSLR, at a fraction of the price ($100 for a good SLR)
I have an Old Rebel Ti. The reason why I haven't shot anything with it, is I cant find any battery's for it :(
[editline]26th January 2011[/editline]
and 28 rolls of expired film...Hmm...
go down to your local electronics store, they should have one that'd fit. I needed a battery for the Canon AE-1P that I was recently given; $20 at a camera store, or across the street at Dick Smith (Australian Radioshack) the same battery was $5.
[editline]27th January 2011[/editline]
if you don't plan on using that film I will gladly pay for postage to take it off your hands.
I stopped by Ritz a week ago while I was getting more lens cleaning solution. They wanted 16 dollars for a 2 pack of Cr2 batterys. I might just have too check out the electronics store.
About the Film, I'm not sure where it all is. I found 12. I'm not sure if they've already been shot on though. (If thats the correct term)
I found 4 Fujifilm 400 Speed 35mm film and 8 Kodak Ultramax 400 speed 35mm film.
The Fujifilm expired September 2010 and the Kodak expired back in August 2009.
[editline]27th January 2011[/editline]
Perhaps we should move this too a PM?
Aight, here's the remaining shots from the gig which I've processed today.
I'd like some super serious C&C as I've been given the chance to go pro with this.

For 120, my costs are roughly $12 a roll to buy and develop, each - that's $1.20 a picture. I get 10 shots a roll.
5Dmkii with lens and flash = ~$4000. 4000/12 = 333.3 x 10 = [5D indirectly paying for it self after the 3333th shot.] = [4000/1.20]
Regardless of the actual numbers, film may have a lower base price yet higher costs when it comes to actually using it.
Costs me £3 to buy & develop 35mm film
$12 is really fucking expensive, I have a friend that shoots 120 and he gets his ektacolor 160 off ebay for $1.60 a roll and then gets it developed for $2 a roll.
but yeah, the cost certainly do add up.

But paying cheaply for the processing can lead to inferior quality.
You can always shoot in B&W on film and at least process your own prints quite cheaply.
after my scanner has screwed my negatives, lightroom has screwed my negatives and flickr has screwed my negatives, the labs processing being slightly off isn't really all that much of a problem.
also if only...

That's one thing in the art world is the fact that inspirational works tend to be demotivational as well. Sometimes you need the backstory on how an artist got where they are, what their history is, how long it took them.
I've been digging through more of Chase Jarvis's videos (sorry for blathering on about the guy, lots of cool stuff to see of his), and found this keynote speech from him. Turns out he was in a band in high school, went to college on a soccer scholarship, and has no formal training in photography, and now he's a major player in the pro photo world.

I think it's only a small hump of demotivation before inspiration becomes a challenge. I see great photographs now and think, "how can I replicate that" or "how can I utilize this effect/style in my own shots?" After you get a grip on basic photographic principles and concepts there shouldn't be a problem.
I'll be getting my 50mm 1.8 in the next few weeks! I can't justify waiting months to get the cash for a 50mm 1.4
Got my roll back, incoming wall. They aren't as good as I would have liked, but I paid for them so I'm posting them :v:
