2.8, you get depth of field options.
So I'm planning on making a Timelapse of a sunset, but I can't do that for another 2 months or so. So I wondered, how large should my SD card be for a good Timelapse, around 2-4gb? (seeing as I thought around 1000 pictures would do).
So if I took 1000 pictures, and put them on playback with 25-30 frames per second, I'd get like what, a 30-40 second long movie, which in my opinion is good enough for a first time.
So if there's anyone here that have made timelapses of sunsets/dawns, what should take in consideration and stuff? Like, what should my camera options be, positions, angles and so on.
Any help is appreciated.
Shoot small JPG, really you only need 1080p so the photos can be taken at the smallest resolution your camera does.
Also set everything to manual, you don't want auto-exposure changing stuff half way through the timelapse.

What should my focal length be? 30mm?
Also, how should I have my camera settings in order to prevent those huge ugly solar-spikes, and lens-flares for that matter.
Here's a little preview of the beach where I'm probably gonna make the timelapse

that is gonna be amazing

althought don't shoot for 30fps, go for about 20 at low quality.

With a 1GB card, I can get around 1100 photos if I have the image size at Small. Does anyone know what resolution that is?
To stop the spikes coming from the sun or other light sources use a bigger aperture.
Focal length really depends on what you want it to look like. Lens flares can't really be stopped but can be reduced a little by lens hoods.
are the shaft on lighting stands and tripods the same size

I think I'll go with the 30mm lens I have then, since it has a Lens hood.
Question for the less cash-disabled members:
70-200mm L f2.8 or f4 IS?
Get the f/2.8 if you have the money. I have an f/4 and it's great.
non-is f/4 is sharp as fuuuuuck

I moon you all
Looks like Uranus to me.
I just got a bunch of free camera stuff, was at the checkstand doing my job when this lady came up and gave me it all. She overheard me talking about photography and how I am looking for lenses and she was all
"Hey I have all these and don't know what to do with them so you can go through it all and see if you need anything"
Anyways here's the list:
Cameras:
Canon AE-1 Program SLR
Konica-pop
Pentax ZX-50 SLR w/ AA battery pack
Lenses:
Vivitar 70-210mm 1:3.5 Macro auto-zoom [Canon FD mount]
Albinar 28mm 1:2.8 Macro [Canon FD mount]
Canon 50mm 1:1.8 [Canon FD mount]
Pentax-A 50mm 1:1.4 [Fuck yeah mount]
I was surprised to find that the Pentax 50mm fit my K-x and was a little of an improvement over my Pentax-M 50mm 1.4 for now I can set my aperature via body and have alot more control without use of the "green button"
Also came with a TON of filters and a Tristar 300AZ flash unit although I have no idea what that is.
QUESTION: Is there anyway to use these old FD mount Canon lenses with say an EOS XSI?
I will buy the Pentax-A 50mm from you.

Have you seen the review for the 2.8 L IS2 USM on digitalrev? If I had like $2500 for anything I'd go straight towards that lens, it looks amazing. I'm not quite sure if that's what you meant by the 2.8
Get the f/2.8 if you have the money. I have an f/4 and it's great.
Even if it's f4 IS versus 2.8 Non IS? That was the comparison (I should've been clearer)
I'm reckoning on a 7D, one of the 70/200 teles and a 35 mil for now
Selling up my nikon stuff and splurging some saves (in other news, anyone up for an as new AF-s 18-200 with all the accessories (hood bag n' caps, UV filter), box for around 400 ONO? SB600 With case, bag and some cut gels 160 ONO? I suppose y'all won't be interested in a D40 kit)
today was perfect. today was also the day that i had absolutely no one to shoot.
Is that your FC3S????
I'm actually, to be honest, not sure what it is...I bought it off of craigslist and the guy knew very little about it, all i know is that it's a 1987 Mazda RX7, it didn't even have a manual in it. Any way to tell what it is?
[editline]18th February 2011[/editline]
It is mine though, if that's what you're asking. The car is an S4, but has S5 tail-lights so you can't really go off of that.

What do you think?
As dull as the aesthetic appearance of the word "dull" really
yeah I honestly have no clue what sort of story or aesthetic you're trying to convey
