O hai
If you do go there this summer, I'm going to find you and laugh at you for being a fresher. Also you chose better conditions. My photo up there ^ was taken at dusk and the original was far too dark, and now... dat grain... ughh
Oh sweet!
its perfect the way it is.
Thanks dude.
It's of my father and a woman that he went to University with him and my mother.
They hadn't seen each other in 20 years or something, but it was interesting to see how different their lives were now.
Makes me think about the friends I have now at Uni.
Who I'll keep in contact with and what situations everyone's going to be in in the future.
*sigh* Lighting outside is wonderful.... Too bad I'm sick. :saddowns:

Yeah, 265 is way too many to publish for any sort of event/outing unless you're doing weddings or something ridiculously important like that. Hell, maybe even if you're doing weddings.
Look for ones that have emotion being displayed or really convey the atmosphere of the concert (maybe one of the crowd getting really into it etc.), because "artist holding microphone/instrument" pictures are a dime a dozen. When people see those they think "oh, yet another picture of a band just standing there, why should I care?" And since almost all concerts are gonna have moody lighting, that alone is not enough to make pictures stand out.
Stuff like this is better: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cheesepuff/5466062996/in/set-72157626091159210/ or http://www.flickr.com/photos/cheesepuff/5466258492/in/set-72157626091159210/
This, not so much: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cheesepuff/5465395269/in/set-72157626091159210/ (although with the way you framed it, there was potential, had you had a way to perhaps highlight the edges of the people so they stand out from pure darkness)
Narrow it down to less than ten and then you can get some decent critique.

33, 117 and 151 are my favourites. I SEE A NIKON USER IN THE CROWD! :D
Those photos are very nice, a few noisy ones but I'm sure the bands like them? Were you using the 18-55 kit lens?
yeah it was a nikon owner with a d3000 they she never takes off auto, flash in my eyes all night
combination of 18-55 and a 50mm 1.8

Don't mind me, just testing out Bibble.

Photographing a battle of the bands.. ans far as I know.. I will be packing my 1000D with a long lens and a friends 20D with a 50mm. Nothing confirmed for the moment but I'm wondering what kind of lens my 1000D should have? I need a fast tele which will get me right up to the action. Gotta be fast as the lights will be dark. Any ideas?

Depends on your budget. You can always go with cheap long primes.
Anyone feeling nice and want to C&C my photos?

Most of them are your standard 'Close-up of everything' photos.
I'd suggest looking through other peoples Flickr accounts and see what kind of pictures they have. We all started with photography by taking close-up pictures of every object/flower you could find but you will grow out of that when the experience comes. It seems that you have the technical aspects of photography down, like setting the aperture and stuff, so now you should focus on the composition. An object is usually very boring in close-up but you can try finding scenes with nice curves or shapes. Maybe shoot some silhouettes at sunset or whatever. Look for inspiration on Flickr and this thread and just get some cool ideas to shoot.
I wouldn't mind some CC on my photos aswell...
Also fenris, basically what DoubleDD said. You got the quality controlled pretty well, you just need to explore outside of the macro world mate

+1
Not directed at fenris; I hate it when people say they want to get in macro photography (that used to be a pretty strong theme around here, but i kept my mouth shut) when they are starting out - asking for advice on macro lenses and whatnot. It's a cliche for beginners to take pictures of inanimate objects up close. Not only are the pictures boring, it doesn't challenge the person in any way. The bottle won't scoff at you for being creepy, those glasses are there all day everyday, the bowl of oranges isn't charging you by the hour, and the family car isn't asking for a model release, etc. you get the idea haha.
That said, you've got to start somewhere.
Edit: please don't take this post too seriously (especially beginners), its an incomplete thought. i've had a drop of the pure ;)

Nonikai, I would like to give you some cc but it's pretty hard. The reason for that is you don't make bad pictures. They are pretty cool actually. Though I think the numbers in which you post these makes the pictures seem identical and less interesting. Do you have a dog? Or a pet brother like Bopie? These can be used as subjects and explore a different kind of photography besides landscapes.
You can always experiment with the skies. The landscapes are cool but the dull grey/white skies make your shots seem less interesting. Now that I think about it, you need more contrast in your pictures, that's what I think is missing. I don't mean just turning the contrast slider up in Photoshop, but more with the colors. Like I said, skies can make a picture. A bright blue sky with a few long strokes of clouds can create a great contrast to the orangy colors of the landscape.
I hope this helps
