but I never got criticism for these on a side note thanks. Jaanus was telling me about find more contrasts aswell. I'll look into that!
I wouldn't mind some CC on my photos aswell...

no time for a proper C&C right now but I will say that many of your landscape photos are remarkably similar, and while they are usually good individually, it would make your better images stronger if you only choose the best out of similar images to publish
it's partially why the avalanche shield was so striking when I first saw it
Thanks guys :buddy:
I appreciate the C&C! Thing is, I really do like macro photography but I see what you're saying.
Don't quit macro photography. It's all just a matter of expanding your horizons mate
You know... that one of the glasses would probably be more interesting without the glasses haha, that wood texture is amazing.
Should I just say fuck it and skip the t3i? The t2i has the same sensor and shoots 720p as well as 1080p.
Ah, just spent 3 hours driving around with absolutely nothing to photograph. I hate Pennsylvania. Trees...Trees everywhere.

You definitely wouldn't be disappointed with the T2i; it's an amazing camera. But if I were you I would wait. I read it has a built in wireless flash trigger? That'll come in extremely useful if you're going to be experimenting with light and buying a flash in the future. It all depends what you'll be shooting.

I have a T2i! It's a very nice camera. But if you were thinking about getting the T3i, I would honestly just save up a bit more and buy a 60D

does the beep work on yours? thats the only problem mine has apart from a really stiff pilot button, i agree though its a great flash for the price, i want another and external power packs for them. they should increase the reliability though, people would still buy it even if they cost $20 more

I like this. It feels like there should be two people there having a conversation, but they're just missing.
Took a bunch of pics at my school dance show. Most turned out too motion blurred to salvage, because the person in charge of lighting couldnt seem to keep the stage lit well.
The first one was shot from the cat walk. Awesome view from there during a show.
The second one was shot from a side cubby where stationary spot lights are mounted. It was cramped and dusty, but I got a whole different perspective than if I were to be in the audience.

This one is pretty damn cool.
Is using a lens hood indoors helpful?
Is using a lens hood indoors helpful?
makes your camera look bigger and more professional and people move out of your way more often, in the least. :v:
And the hood takes the hit, if you slam your lens into something.
Taken in film.

These are much better! You could've made the second a bit more interesting if you included one or two persons sitting at the table, but overal nice color and play of lines.

Ya, I was thinking about just getting the 60d instead. The only thing I hate is that the aperture is in the back of the camera as a round selection unlike the rebel series with has it set like the shutter speed except in the back as well. I can live with that though. I shot with a 40D earlier and I liked it quite a bit so you think I'll like the 60D much more?
Getting into black and white developing, I should have all the gear together by the end of the week :)

couple of things,
1) turn down your noise reduction, the last photo just looks plain blurry.
2) I don't really see the point of the purple split-toning, if it's black and white leave it exactly that unless you have a good reason to do so otherwise.
This asshole is the reason I don't want to go to school for photography.
I began my photography career as most people do...the high school yearbook. Upon graduation I attended the US Naval PHOTOGRAPHY School in Pensacola Fla. After getting a qualification in basic PHOTOGRAPHY and then later attending their PORTRAIT School, I was assigned to a military operation.
Some of my most memorable experiences included USO photography for Bob Hope, Brooke Shields, Kathy Lee Crosby and Wayne Newton. I've also had the opportunity for travel assignments to places such as Beirut, Israel, Africa, Australia, Brazil, Italy, Spain and England.
Upon exiting the Navy in 1984, I opened up a Tanning Salon and Health Club in Oxford,Ohio and began photographing weddings, all as a vehicle to fund my way through college to earn a degree in Marketing Management.
During my career in sales and professional recruiting, I have built a large and successful business network that has afforded me many public speaking opportunities throughout the US on topics of entrepreneurship, personal self development, mentorship and family values.
In 2008 I was fortunate enough to have had five published pictures and won a Third Place, Consensus Best Award in the Capture Cincinnati Project. I also had a picture of Cincinnati Red's Rookie Jay Bruce on the front cover of November 28, 2008 Cincinnati Business Courier. I have covered Ollie North, John Maxwell, Kenneth Copeland, Frank Lutz and Chris Gardner, whose life was the basis for the movie "The Pursuit of Happyness". My business name, Cincinnati Sports Photography was recently an official photographer for the 2010 NFL Pro Camp at University of Cincinnati, Big East Outdoor Track and Field Championships and featured on the front page of The Cincinnati Enquirer.
I am frequently contracted by parents, sports teams, and organizations in the Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio areas, to provide the highest quality sports photography, both on an individual and team basis.
Go through any of his little galleries and you'll be blasted with :barf: worthy selective coloring and generic as fuck portraits. Go ahead and read his blog too if you want some motivation to kill yourself.

but I do hate the photo school mentality, people feel prepped and awesome because they got through college, and get cocky about their actual skill. I just took on a new intern who focused in photography for college, she has technical knowledge but no real field experience, nor artistic backing. Says she was drilled 99% in photoshopping techniques then told to go take pictures to edit for the next class. I'm actually training her with camera-specific techniques, basics in lighting and she says she's learning what should have been covered in her first classes.
And again, one of my photographer buddies does weddings, hired a photo-focus graduate as an assistant, and the kid came out of a wedding with five usable photos and an angry family to explain it to.
Technicality is great and we need it, but it shouldn't take as much precedence over practicality as it does in some schools. :colbert:

That said, I went to school with a guy who's just finished Uni studying photojournalism.
His course sounded very well balanced.
