Yeah really soft. Bump up some of that contrast.
I love high-key so much, I just wish I knew how to do it.

Yeah. :unsmith: it's quite rough. But your case must've sucked. :ohdear: Couldn't open presents:saddowns:. However my fever is getting better!
[editline]25th February 2011[/editline]
I found that high key is much easier in snowy conditions and indoors, I'd say a powerful flash.
thanks. i got those presents eventually. I hope you feel better soon! :buddy:
goodnight everybody! (ps: i just bought some SWEET pants made out of fire hose material. can't wait to get them! )
My Olympus actually has a high key gradiation setting, it's weird
I fucking love high key, but I just can't get it just right.
Maybe it's for the best, cause it would be like wannabe'ing Bopie.

lol what no
do whatever you want, check out big name photographers and try and 'emulate' some of their photos you like. it's how you learn
Bobie is wannabe'ing a photographer who started to do high-key - and he's wannabe'ing a photographer who started to do high-key.. I mean, nothing is new in photography anymore. You can use the high-key technique but with a different idea behind the motive.

Also..
I want to make a Tutorial thread. I'm going to record how I did the multiple exposure shots with myself. There were one or two who requested that, so maybe on sunday I will make it.
So if any of you are thinking of making a tutorial thread - WAIT!

GRR DOGS! I look forward to the tutorial, curious if you done it in a similar way I did.
DAT LADY BIRD
Took some photos around a 400 year old castle ruins today, grew up around the area and its changed so much. What hasn't changed though is the amount of used condoms and alcohol around it, bloody wasters.
I found that high key is much easier in snowy conditions and indoors, I'd say a powerful flash.
I hate snow, it ruins the look of my style. It takes pretty specific conditions for me to get it right, when there is snow. I fucked up a shoot with a model because of it. Also, it's not the lightsource that determines how your high key will turn out, it's 'feeling' how much it needs to be overexposed. Lighting, flashes etc, are a different game that determines the 'shape' of the light.

Reposting some old shot I took long long ago, what's freaky is that I actually found out who this girl was recently through one of my friends who actually knew her parents. Freaky stuff.
I swear I've seen this like 3 times now. As much as it's a good photo, try not to hang on to past work too much.
I fucking love high key, but I just can't get it just right.
It's really not that hard, it's just a matter of building up a taste as to what looks right. I might make a Brian Storey style tutorial, as it seems a lot of people are trying to figure how I do it, but I must warm, it's more about how you shoot, and less how you process. :smile:
do whatever you want, check out big name photographers and try and 'emulate' some of their photos you like. it's how you learn
+1. I actually told someone a few pages ago to basically rip off pictures they like. Sure it's unoriginal, but you do learn a lot, and you usually end up putting your own spin on it.
gotta run 2 school, no time 4 hotlinks!

I really like this one it's the background on my phone. I just wish that it was a little more focused on the ladybug. But it's really nice the way it is.
No criticism ;_;
I need to learn how to use a film camera
Or at least how to put film in one...
No criticism ;_;
You got 4 artistic ratings! :v: I liked the tank shot a lot, how the tip of the tank barrel was focused on.
Went to Thorpe Marsh Power Station today seeing as it's only 5 miles from my grandparents, the place was wide-open and unsecured. Here are some SOOC pictures seeing as I forgot to go into RAW for my first pictures and I don't have Lightroom on this laptop. Will create a thread later if I managed to get any good pictures.
C&C?
fuck of- just kidding <3
They remind me of STALKER, specifically the first shot and the reactors in the background which I really like. Did you get an eerie vibe from the place? Wishing I had more abandoned places to explore!
So I tried to scale things down. I think these were the best of today. CC Obviously encouraged
Incoming tangent;
I fucking hate when people ask me to take pictures of something for them. It sounds a thousand times easier said than done. It actually puts me in a horrible mood when I'm forced to do something without 'soul'. I sound angsty as shit but it is actually one of the most irritating things in the world when someone asks me to take a family portrait or some stupid shit - just because I'm 'the oh so creative photographer nephew with the big camera and the flickr'. It's not the actual work that bothers me, I could put the effort in a thousand times for free, its just so degrading. and I sound like a cunt because it's my family asking for a simple picture - there is just something about being pushed to take a picture that i don't care for that really, really pisses me off.
Didn't your parents pay for your 5D MK2? If so, you should probably try to do whatever it is that your family asks for without much hesitation, as an act of gratitude at the very least.
Jeez, I'd commit bad deeds for a paid-for MK2.
same
They paid part of it for graduation. It was 1.5 me, 1 them.
And if you read later on, I explained that I do it for them anyway. I was just venting.
Edit: Post a tutorial on my precious method, get called out 3 posts later. awesome. I even tried to buy a shirt from you man :saddowns:

Just curious, you are you using an extender/freelensing, etc?

The photoshop bit occurs after the lightroom. I've never ever made a tutorial on anything before, sorry! lol
It just adds a slight washed out aesthetic, nothing too major. It has roughly the same effect as putting a solid white layer over the image at like ~10% opacity.
