bro, i'm loving those tones
bro, i'm loving those tones
Many thanks.
Found out the hard way how shooting with an open lens in snow is a bad idea.
High contrast is causing some hell purple fringing. I don't know how to avoid is other than stopping down to a lower aperture.
At 1.4 my shutter is constantly 1/6000 so everything is over-exposed too, the only solution is going to 3-4 but that defeats the purpose of using the lens for the DOF qualities.
Shooting on wide open apertures when it's snowing creates awesome effects of blurry snowflakes in front of your subject.
I had a picture but I don't anymore :iiam:

I really, really like this. As far as CC goes, I think it would have been a bit better if you had shot it straight on - as opposed to the slight to-the-right angle you've got going on there. It's still really good though.

I can't comment on the dog for personal reasons, but what are the chances of getting a heart shaped rock? The tones in your photos are very pleasing, keep it up!

I attempt to take these shots as straight on and even as possible with the terrain I have, unfortunately it was marshy and one bad step I'm into a small pond. Glad to hear you like it!
Today I noticed that my D3000, with 18-55 kit lens and SB-700 is pretty weighty around the neck. Can imagine its very uncomfortable with larger cameras and a big telephoto/heavy glass lens?
Those are some oh-so delicious colours. Touched up or perfect colour profiles of the camera?

There is a tree actually that is covered in them, people find hearts and put lots on it, none of my other photos came out though.
Something is off with this, but I can't put my finger on it. What can I do to improve it?

The subject seems a bit too dark for a photo like that
in my opinion
Yeah the background is really bright, distracting from the subject.
So I was taking self portraits in hard sunlight and it didn't occur to me that my paleness was causing a highlight blow out far greater than I usually expect with my highkey style. Nothing was salvageable. Live and learn. :saddowns:

Now that the sun has gone down I'll have to work something out with my 580 for tonight's 365. :D
I have to submit 5 photos on thursday for the "Open Day" thing we're doing at school.
I went with these 5, what do you think?

The other guys with their fancy sigma and canon lenses were wasting their abilities on forced portraits in a makeshift studio, and I think the rest were taking landscape photos or photos of random objects in the school, it angered me.
Also Jaanus has me hooked on these types of photos now. Either way, what do you guys think?
Thanks for that input, I'll take another try tomorrow. There's something about those cats tails and the pink and white house that I like, and I'll be damned if I don't get it right eventually.

Is this an open day for Photography or to represent school? The way the light shines on the floor near the pool table makes me think its too tilted, but doesn't actually seem to be the case. The second last photo of the branch, I tried similar things but because I couldn't get the whole thing in focused I personally never liked shooting them. The tones in the 2nd and 3rd are nice!

Maybe they cleverly edit their photos to not look edited?

Edit: Actually, I have to say I had a happy accident. I saved that as a preset and applied it to random pictures for shits and giggles. I hit the ultra-flat pictures I took awhile ago and managed to salvage (IMO) what I had deemed a failure.
