Bit of color play in photoshmock
Focus is a little iffy but I love the colours. A little tip for next time would be to choose a better subject, and try to think beyond your back yard (I know myself how hard it is to find the motivation!). Also good for you for sticking with a Point-and-Shoot! I used one for all my photography for a year and a half before I had enough saved up and the right sale came on before I got my DSLR and I can tell you that it really taught me how to make a good photo on the image as a whole, rather than separate elements that "look nice". Remember: DaVinci wasn't amazing because he used the best pencils.
Oh man that's awesome. What animal is it?
Highland Cattle. They're super inquisitive and really friendly. Followed us around for a long time. The guy that owns them is selling them for £500 each. That's fucking cheap - but the only catch is that you have to promise not to eat them. They're used (at least in that setting) as habitat modifiers. Keeping scrubland and ancient woodland diverse by creating micro-habitats by selectively eating certain shrubs etc.
"I get emails and posts on my FB every day saying things like “I hope I can be as good as you someday”. And of course, I’m totally flattered! But I just wanted to lay it bare for you right now: Sometimes, I just want to give up. Sometimes I literally lose sleep at night thinking about how I wish this and I wish that. Sometimes, I totally bomb a session and I have to re-shoot. Sometimes I cry. Sometimes, I hate my branding. My style. My editing. Sometimes I look at other photographers and think: I’ll NEVER be that good. So if you’re looking at me and thinking the same thing? Just know that sometimes, I’m doing the exact same thing. And sometimes, I even get your emails while I’m in the very middle of one of my sometimes tantrums."
Aaw you. 'tis cool. You've obviously got what it takes and damn, it must be nice having your little brother around to shoot all the time. From the photographs of him that you post, it seems to me that he bugs you to photograph him far more than you ask him to model for you? I guess it's just one of those things. What you're passionate about the most is often what gets you down. But if you really are passionate about something you should stick at it in one form or another. No matter how hard it sometimes gets.
BOKEHlicious
The lens I used for those photos cost me £10+ a £6 M45 adapter.
LINK you hacker
The lens is a Helios 44M-2.
The Helios 44 series has been in production for many years. During that time they have made subtle changes. The bigest change was to introduce 'multuicoated' optics - that is what the 'M' means. The number refers to the version, so the 4 is older than the 6. I think they are now producing the 7 series. Given the choice I would go for the version with the highest number, the 6, depending on it's condition.
I like the 44M-2 though because it produces a softer effect than the later models. They sell on ebay for £10-£20. @JustyB I'm in love with the Blimp but I'm a sucker for silhouettes as a whole King of the Hill would be incredible as well if the guy stood out a bit more - he blends in with the background and is not immediately apparent. Maybe the b&w wasn't the best idea?

The fact that he followed that up by stating that he was just messing around in lightroom would have made it clear that he was just experimenting, which is never a bad thing.

Went up north for a ski/snowboard trip. Came back with pretty much only this: and I don't even like it :sigh: My mom wouldn't let me take my camera with me while snowboarding, or when I went snowmobiling. Missed a lot of great photo ops. Also, the ski resort that I was at had 4 of those cow things that picwickian posted a few pages ago. Mind you, the resort was in Northern Michigan.
