The Creative Photography Thread - If It Ain't Bokeh, Don't Fix It - General

Stuff's been pretty candid lately for my 365, the weekend was busy with the funeral. I'm going to do a deathcore band photoshoot next Saturday on some old, broken, and unused railroad tracks. I'm wondering if it's legal for photographers to take pictures on train tracks even if they're abandoned and broken because I've heard somewhere that it is illegal to do photography on railroad tracks. I live in Chicago.

It's not illegal to take pictures on railroad tracks, just pictures on and of the railroad companies' private property. (pictures of their property taken from public grounds are okay, of course) If the tracks are truly abandoned, I doubt anyone will be guarding the area.

"I'm sorry officer, I didn't know it was private property, here I'll delete all the pictures." - "Oh don't worry about it son, you're just not supposed to be hanging around here, have a good day."

If you've got some spare change, you can even schedule a photoshoot at an unused station or in/around abandoned rail cars [with supervision], it's really cool.

how dissapointing. by the time i reached the city, the sun went down. :( i took a photo of my little step brother though. cutest kid ever. when he gets shy he puts on those glasses, looks at the ground, and pretends he's invisible. he loves having his photo taken though. At first glance I saw a city in the background, comparing the size of the people to the tree it makes them seem like giants. Nice work!
