Technically speaking, every particle in your body exists as a wave of probability, which can very well travel through matter as per quantum tunneling. Stating that can make this happen through the power of the mind is hooey though.
You'd require something to generate a quantum waveform in order to do that though wouldn't you? (Ala HW1 Hyperspace)
A test I made to test this. [img_thumb]http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/4461/walkthroughwalls.jpg[/img_thumb] Click it.
Genius idea.
This is scientifically possible, the problem is that it utilizes a process called Quantum Tunneling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_tunnelling) which is the same process used all the time for electrons to bridge the gap over seemingly insurmountable semiconductors. I say this is a problem because it would require every single atom in your body to utilize this quantum tunneling effect at the same time over a very long distance (quantumly speaking). The odds of this happening are almost infinitesimally small, but it is possible. So, given a seemingly infinite amount of time you could eventually do it, but im talking more time than any human can rationally comprehend - definitely not within the lifetime of a human being, or even our solar system (probably not even within the lifetime of our universe). More on it here: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Can_a_human_walk_through_a_solid_wall Congrats to all the people in this thread claiming it isn't possible without bothering to do any research.
Well their still basically right, as no human could do it.
So there's a kid at my school who used "logic" and "physics" to prove that he can mentally displace his atoms far enough apart to walk through a wall. Does this sound remotely possible (The displacement part) or is he totally stupid?
Yeah it's true, atoms vibrate so if you were to somehow manage to control the vibrations of your atoms and sync them up with the objects vibrations you could in theory have your bodies atoms pass through the spaces between the objects atoms. Still that's science that's 1000's of year away for us. Actually if he could somehow control his temperature and analyse the temperature of the wall and adjust his body to the perfect temperature and be pushed at the wall then maybe he could do it. it's a 1 in a several trillion chance so it has to happen somewhere :v:
ITT: 15 year olds discuss quantum theory like steven hawkin himself.
Implying only Stephen Hawking knows Quantum Theory.
A bunch of wiremod prodigies certainly don't
It is possible to walk through walls. :raise: There's only an unimaginably tiny probability, but it's possible. Quantum physics. [editline]01:58PM[/editline]
Well their still basically right, as no human could do it.
No, a human could do it. If you're talking about probabilities, and degrees of certainties, if it can happen, it can happen. You can't dismiss something that's highly improbable as impossible just because it's convenient when you're talking about quantum physics.
A bunch of wiremod prodigies certainly don't
Wait wait wait. YOU don't know about Quantum Theory so you expect everyone else to not know about it as well, perfect logic I can see how it works. And what the fuck is Wiremod?
about quantum physics because you are steven hawkin and i wish i could talk like a cunt in threads like you do because its cool eet ees posseble!!1!#!11!!!! damn ginger mop
:raise:
I would also like to add to this discussion by saying yes it is theoritaclly possible, the chances are so minimal that it will probably never happen.
I know of quantum theory and I've read about quantum theory but i don't jump on every thread about it trying to act superior because I have a tab with wikipedia open. Have you been to university? Have you discussed it seriously with anyone who has? No, so how can you sit here and tell people about things?
1) Build wall out of Neutronium (ignoring the fact that a wall out of neutronium would be as massive as like the moon or something) 2) Walk head on into wall 3) No electrostatic repulsion between your atoms and wall seeing as how wall is entirely neutral (???) 4) ??? 5) PASS THROUGH WALL!

No, so how can you sit here and tell people about things?
I have discussed this exact topic with someone who has studied quantum physics at university and he tells me that it is entirely possible to walk through a wall like this.

Have you been to university? Yes actually :v: Have you discussed it seriously with anyone who has? Again yeah No, so how can you sit here and tell people about things?
Well I can because I'm seriously considering swapping my modules to take Physics because it's the subject I was best at in school. :colbert: What ya gonna say now mother fucker, it's an unproven scientific hypothesis?
Yep, walking threw walls happens all the time, just ask Kitty Pryde...
Obviously quantum physics still requires more research before we can take it for granted as fact, but we can say with reasonable certainty that through quantum tunneling, it is possible to do this. I don't see how it's outside of my rights to tell people that it's possible, given this. If you're going to go into the semantics of "YOU DON'T KNOW IT'S FACt!!!" then the discussion is about to go very offtopic when I bring out Descarte's evil daemon.
Jeez, get over yourself guys.
Jeez, get over yourself guys.
As far as intelligent discussion goes, I don't think these types of responses are helpful whatsoever. I'm waiting for someone to dispute what I'm saying and enlighten me if they can. It's basically just anti-intellectualism and it's annoying as fuck.
Are you really that stupid??? :wtc:
Are you really that stupid??? :wtc:
Is who really that stupid? :raise: It is possible, just incredibly improbable.
Dude, tell him to keep his hands out of my stash. [editline]03:56PM[/editline]
I remember having a similar discussion ages ago with some idiot who claimed he saw a girl get hit by a car but lagged so it clipped through her and she walked away whilst the car was "badly" damaged... it was dumb enough for me to whip out photoshop.
Him too.
I'm a well trained telepath. I can influence your mind to make you suck my dick. Do you believe me?
I already am sucking it so I'd say yes. FUCK YOU GOT ME!
If you do that you'll fall through the floor durrrr
No, because most of the time it ends up like this:
He's telling the truth, I have a picture to prove it:

I'm 24 god dammit.
