Feels like getting flicked by a rubber band, pain lasts less then a few seconds.
Personally I find paintball to be pretty much pain-free even with the marks it leaves, it's more of a get-to-you feeling, like a surprise.
If you get hit in the hand with no glove on it can hurt a little. I've been hit in the neck before too, right under my mask. That was probably the most pain I've felt from a paintball and even that wasn't too too bad.
I don't play regularly, I've played maybe 5 or 6 times in my whole life (i guess i play woodsball, it's in the woods but there are cars and bunkers and stuff) but it's pretty fun.
Paint balls work surprisingly well at 60mph while leaning out of a car window.
I was actually able to hit a truck behind me.

Ahhh sounds like cool stuff. While on my side my airsoft gears has been gathering dust in the closet while I'm being out of it, and then still fixing airsoft stuff since forever. Well my last week of actually working as a part time employee there, just going to go fix stuff once in a while after to help my friend (my boss there). Since I'm done with school friday and begins to work monday.

You're a genius at promoting Paintball as a sport practiced by mature and responsible adults
Paintball is fun for a get-together with friends at the local indoor paintball field, but airsoft is so much more fun for battles anywhere else.
I'd rather battle with an actual looking gun, than one of those ugly paintball guns with big hoppers and gas tanks.
Im sorry i know what you mean, but i play paintball with A RAP 4 T68 its a magazine fed 20 round per magazine M4/M16 replica that is very accurate and very customizable much more like a real rifle, if you have a real enthusiast you can easily find realistic paintball guns

Not entirely true, I was playing last weekend, took a paintball to the knuckle from 20 feet away broke the skin and drew blood, we play at about 275-280, that and the bruises i have from it are the size of a silver dollar coin, and those are the smallest ones.
Airsofter here, I was invited to play paintball once. Everyone kept asking me why I was creeping through the bushes instead of running and charging the enemy. And then when I finally got some bad guys in my sights I kept firing low because I wasn't used to the ridiculous bullet drop so my first 10 rounds just landed at their feet.
So to all the paintballers here, what's the maximum effective range you can effectively hit people with a paintball gun?

It depends entirely on how high the velocity is, what type of barrel your using and how much air/C02 you have left, If you use a rifled barrel like i do i can hit people pretty accurately at about 150-200 feet. but that's just my gun.

I can hit about 55m out. Like airsoft it depends on the gun you get. The guys you were playing with were speedball-fags. Anyone who's not a douche here plays milsim or woodsball. (woodsball is like a more casual version of milsim)

Yeah it was a really casual get-together of friends who let me borrow a paintball gun (I already have a mask I use for airsoft). We played in the woods behind their house, and since woodland environments are where I normally play airsoft I tried to use my normal airsoft strategies, which apparently were strange, alien, and unorthodox to them :v: They even thought it was stupid that I wore multicam and a ghillie hat although they were like "Man when you stand still you're like invisible!"

Go get yourself an apex 2, you'll have some fun with one of those then :v:
I have one for my x7 and It's pretty fun to use, no lie. It basically acts as a hop-up like an airsoft gun would have and puts backspin on the ball, causing you to gain some range. I put one on an ego I used to have and it was loud, but just hilarious to use while playing hyperball or something.

Those are fighting words, boi.
I play both, but grew up playing in the woods so it's my favorite. Still have my first automag that I started out with!

Paintball isn't really a "sit still" kind of game even in the woods. Maybe for big-game scenarios but thats about it. It's more about cover fire and positioning by moving fast, and in speedball being aware of sightlines because you are extremely close (like CQB airsoft).

I was shot very close in the thigh somewhere early last year.
And there is still a slightly visible mark today.
When I played paintball a long time ago, I was wearing a mask with a grill type thing covering the mouth
Someone shot me there and a shitload of paint got into my mouth

generally in paintball ball drop is a plus (not so bad that it drops at their feet), it helps with shooting slightly over cover, just enought to tag the minimal frame provided by the target. Velocity can be cranked though, to provide accuracy and distance. arisoft guns and paintball markers can achieve similar distances and accuracies, but in paintball velocities are usually lower than airsoft due to safety issues, and since paintballs are heavier they carry momentum differently. Usually paintball places cap the velocity at 350 or 375, or 220 or less for rentals.

Haha no, 300fps or lower is the limit everywhere, and why would there be a different limit for rentals? I think you're confusing airsoft and paintball velocities mate.
under 300 fps is the norm everywhere.
My local field limits at 290 but doesn't punish until your gun hits over 300 on at least 2/3 shots.

On the fields I've been to, the rentals never shot at more than 250. In fact, the last rental I used was shooting at 180 with a full fucking tank (3500 psi HPA). But these were on speedball fields; the rentals' velocities at the nearest woodsball field were the same as walk-ons.
Also I believe the reason the rental velocities were reduced at the speedball fields was due to the fact that they get a lot of <13 year olds, and others who are prone to be put off by welts and such. Business is better if the costumers return and such.

It's because there's a huge airsoft community on Facepunch maybe? I haven't read through the whole thread but I never really saw it get "ragged on".

The field I work at chronos all the rental's at ~260-280 FPS. If one was shooting as low as 180 that's a maintenance problem, not indicative of a field limit under 200.
Hey, paintballers. I've a bit of a problem... I was at a hardware store looking to buy new hex-keys; I saw a paintball gun and decided, 'what the hell?'. I bought it for twenty dollars. It's missing a few screws- someone obviously tried to take it apart. I used my new hex-keys to tighten some screws. Everything but a non-essential screw for the grip, and one screw for holding the gas valve in place are there. I used a wee bit of duct-tape to fix the grip, and made sure the valve could not come loose. The one problem I'm having, though, is understanding how to use it or how it works, and I'm having trouble finding the manufacturer's manual. If anyone can find a .PDF or has a copy they could give me a look at, it would be much-appreciated(Or, if you could tell me how to use it...) Here are some spontaneous pictures, by the way. I apologise for my horrible photography skills.
