Couple of shots I took a while ago, looking to get better.

Don't take my word for it, cause I'm using this shitty screen, and getting raped in my face by sun glare, but I think you should bump up the brightness on the two first pictures, as they are underexposed.
It also has to do with practice. Technology and good eyesight only go so far.
I agree but I have not had my camera for very long, so it shouldn't take anyone else long to get good at manual focusing. The only thing I have trouble with is focusing on a distant object/ a landscape at a low f-stop, which is why I need to get some AF lenses.
Use zoomed live view :colbert:
It's also a different for each lens and camera.
I'm really good at focusing my n5005, but some other cameras I'm not as good at.
But yeah the manual to auto thing is good because then you don't actually ruin the focus of your shots, but you do get practice. The only problem is when you have it pretty much focused and then you set it to auto and it decides to focus on the fucking tiny leaf in the very corner of your screen just to piss you off.

I'm going to do a model shoot on friday and advice would be appreciated. I rarely shoot people other than candid stuff.
I mean she's not really a model, just a high school girl. Also it's a little selfish because it's more about my photo project than giving her nice pictures of herself.
The project is to come up with a series of photos that could easily just be stills form some movie where you could sort of see how the plot would work, but it's not explicit. I have a few ideas about that, but if anyone else has ideas that'd be great too.
Also I was probably just going to go to the woods near my house to shoot, does that sound like a good location? It has a cool swamp and some open fields, plus all the flowers are currently blooming.

Oh does the 1000D not have 3d focusing? That's what I do with my D90. It allows me to move where the camera wants to autofocus. So usually that just involves moving the focus point on my viewfinder with the directional pad on my camera.
Holy shit, have you guys seen this time lapse: ?

I don't think it does, just has specific focus points.

Aye,
He used a 5d MKII, but what I want to know is how the hell he picked up so many stars and nebula without tracking the sky.

In a few of the shots you can see large observatories which are usually built miles from any light pollution and really high up, plus he was above most of the clouds and atmosphere.

Location.

I'm almost positive you can set it so you can select which specific focus point you want to focus on.

did you clean your lens inside and out? you gotta make sure its lens or your sensor.
also, that buggy, want.
If you're talking about that big spot under the top power line in the second picture, that's almost certainly sensor dust. There are plenty of guides out there, just be careful. Check your lens first.
I thought it was something on my computer monitor until I scrolled.
that might be some dust on your sensor. DO NOT try to wipe or brush it off, if using a handheld blower doesn't knock it loose take it to your local camera shop to clean. Blowing on it with your mouth might end up with you flinging a few droplets of spit at it and nobody wants that.
It helps to get a good composition before taking the photo.
I went for a bike ride on a trail near my house, took my camera and this is what I ended up with.

love that triptych
I've got some pretty bad sensor dust that I need to keep photoshopping out, but there's no decent camera shops near me :(
I've had dust on my sensor for so long, but i've just stopped caring.
I've got dust all over my focusing screens on all of my cameras.
Doesn't affect anything so I leave it be. Live and let live - I don't want to fuck my shit up.
Automatic sensor cleaning :smug:
:smug:
That only works to an extent, it just charges a coating in-front of the sensor to repel tiny dust particles.
Not a substitute for a real cleaning.
Ordered my single speed now, was going to build my own but my dad offered to buy me one and I pay back half, and i'm slowly gonna change parts/colours, though its pretty nice at the moment.

gonna get rid of those tyres, have one white, one brown. Remove front brake, stickers for now.
