It's technically sound, very good for what it is. Nice and clean, you took your time. I have to say I hate selective coloring though, it just looks really shitty. and tacky.
I think it looks fantastic when used correctly and sparingly. Like in Schindler's List. Yeah, it's a movie, bite me.
I'm considering just stopping. I haven't touched my camera in over a week
Treat a week of 2 of no photography as a lead up to a big week of photography. Atm this week is my last chance to really go out and take photos before the exams, after the exams though I have loads of places to go and copious amounts of free time.
I've never understood stopping a hobby you love Just because I haven't picked up my guitar or camera in a while doesn't mean I want to stop, it just means I have nothing creative I want to take a picture of or write
First of all, you guys are so fucking friendly. Second, I'm not stopping, just scaling back while I sort other matters out. I've also been focusing on cycling alot too to get in shape for a big ride this summer. I also feel like If I take a break and come back, I will be 'creatively' refreshed. I do have 2 rolls of 120 I should get back on thursday. [editline]8th May 2011[/editline] no. just no. keep at it mate.
I'm taking a break from photos until I finish my exams on the 10th next month, by then I should have my 17-50 f/2.8, I plan on taking some sunset shots from the top of Richmond hill. This view (not my photo):
I'm considering just stopping. I haven't touched my camera in over a week
A week? I've barely touched my camera in months. :(
I haven't touched mine in a while also. I plan on going out much more after these damn school assignments are done. Two months of school left anyways.
The summer holidays will be fun, I'm probably going to Portugal with a friend armed with my DSLR.

Yet, I go to college directly after high school ends this Summer. :( [editline]8th May 2011[/editline] Question: If I want to take a long exposure shot of an indoor cathedral with somewhat minimal lighting, how would I go about doing that without coming out overexposed? I would have a tripod, wide angle lens, and mainly lighting coming from windows. Would I be on the right track if I had it set to aperture priority and set the aperture really small (f/22+) and the ISO at 100? The reason I am asking is because there is a beautiful cathedral the next city over, and I want a quality picture of it, but I don't want all of the people stopping in and out of there to be in my shot. Ideas?
If you want to get rid of people in your shot you'll probably need an ND filter.
Yup, get a very dense ND filter. Don't skimp on them either, a bad ND filter can make your images quite soft.

(for me, at least) 2. 100 ISO. 3. experiment with the exposure. I'd go 5-1 seconds. also, tripod that shit.

I take a photo every day. But I think it's just because I have it on me. Took this shot earlier this afternoon of my housemate. She was in her window and I was outside the front having a cigarette. I'm pretty sure it's physically impossible to leave photography entirely. No matter what, there will be a time where you take out your camera to takes something.
Mother's flowers are blooming! Lighting is quite nice at around 7:15pm here. Lighting was subtle but delightful.
im not gonna get unbanned, but while i recover here's an old shot [img_thumb]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5132/5466210708_30e34c34d5_z.jpg[/img_thumb] edited photos final (173 of 263) by codenamecueball, on Flickr
Reminds me of that song "I just wanna play videogames" for some reason. I think it's the kid in the front row dressed all like, innocent, waving his hand around... [editline]8th May 2011[/editline] Still a good shot, love the PoV and colors. Good clarity for a dark show.

I thought I'd front my final frontieer within photography, now that I've tried macro, nature, people and all of that. Now: Cars: [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1467131/Hyggen/Sak.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1467131/Hyggen/Mustang.jpg[/img_thumb]
That is one sexy corvette.
Updated with non-facebook-quality raped images.
Took this in London, first time shooting with a 'proper' camera.
Looks very touristy to me to be honest, there aren't many techniques applied to it.
Looks very touristy to me to be honest, there aren't many techniques applied to it.
I don't think I've ever seen a touristy photo taken at night which wasn't blurry/trailed. I think it's a nice photo
I believe he meant composition wise and not quality wise.
awww yeah this page is now about car shots Fenners mk1 Bute town tunnels 3 by Angus R Christie, on Flickr
I believe he meant composition wise and not quality wise.
That's the view from somewhere around Tower Hill station, I can't imagine he had a lot of space to play with - it's always busting there. It's a very wide view too and with a kit lens you wouldn't be able to get the whole thing in. I'm just fed up of B-hazard never giving constructive criticism, it's always just 'I don't like it'. Explain why and what can be done to make you like it!
I'll give him some constructive criticism then; The image is straight forward. It's plain. It's documentary. It's not the type you'd see in an art expo, it's the type you'd see in a newspaper or a photo album. What, for me, makes an image special is the composition. I'm not talking about this rule of thirds bull, I'm thinking more - play with lines. For me photography is like drawing, a line in an image must paint the image that our mind perceives as elegant. Lets take one of my old shots for example; [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1467131/tree2.jpg[/img_thumb] Notice how the bridge points from where the eye falls first, towards the tree and creates a feeling of smoothness, promptly contrasted by the tree. What you could do would be to get up as close as you could (it would help if you told me what lenses you have) and see what you can "draw" with the Tower Hill station. Perhaps lead the eye towards an object, a person or just the natural curvature of nature. When you got that nailed, see if you can get some natural lighting and color on the right spots. Looking at the photograph I don't believe there's much you can do on that aspect so that's okay.
undecided on this one edited photos final (145 of 263) by codenamecueball, on Flickr [editline]9th May 2011[/editline] edited photos final (160 of 263) by codenamecueball, on Flickr [editline]9th May 2011[/editline] edited photos final (197 of 263) by codenamecueball, on Flickr i dunno why i like this shot, is it the character that this guy portrays just played his biggest gig, or the fill light grain populating it to a point it could pass as a scanned film print [editline]9th May 2011[/editline] or maybe it's just a shitty motion blurred shot
