[QUOTE=bopie;29973476]Cueball, the key is to shift your thinking from the mechanics to actual content.
You've learned how to work a camera, now use that to express your vision.[/QUOTE]

You can't get arrested for taking a picture of a train station :v:
Just know your rights. Take along a photographers rights guide thingy.

I like it.
Looks a tad soft though.
[editline]22nd May 2011[/editline]
Which is weird since it's f/8.
Noise reduction, I'll turn it down a bit and re-upload.
[editline]22nd May 2011[/editline]
Done.
Still something odd about it - was the focus set to the model?
The focus is set to 1.3 meters, it's before the model, making it soft.
[QUOTE=Roll_Program;29986196]The focus is set to 1.3 meters, it's before the model, making it soft.[/QUOTE]
Yeah but it's 18mm (28.8mm equivalent) and on f/8.
Are you still doing any noise reduction on it B-haz?

But it's focused at 1.3 meters, that gives a 1 meter or so DoF, at f/8 and 18mm.
The scene is more than a meter deep.
going to maker faire, I hope to meet adam savage.

I think my kit lens may be back-focusing a bit because it does this often.
my 50mm backfocuses a fair bit
[editline]22nd May 2011[/editline]
but the 70-200 f/4 is a beast lens which is dead good to use on my 1000D
[editline]22nd May 2011[/editline]
next in my line of testing, a 17-40L

Where are you getting these lenses from?
jessops, i just stroll in and say "lemme try the 70-200"
Ah but how much testing can you really do in-store.
[QUOTE=Funny;29987824]Ah but how much testing can you really do in-store.[/QUOTE]
none really
My 50mm prime back-focuses a lot as well.
It's really annoying for full bodied protraits: it's usually okay at focusing at closer distances, but as soon as you get to about 10m away it has difficulty focusing correctly on the person, and instead focuses behind them.
I've lost so many good potential portraits from that, it's got the the point where I'm considering buying a new identical lens.
[editline]23rd May 2011[/editline]
Also, I've been revising population genetics all day - probably about 7 hours now. It's so bloody annoying.
Don't do a science at Uni guys :P
Haha!
Stop going into stores to feel up lenses and go out and make art.
I've never had a better lens than a kit lens
Works for me atm
On that note, ordering my Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 in the next few days :holy:
whyy...?
[editline]22nd May 2011[/editline]
wide angle...
Because, Mr. Ban, I have no real need for the 17-28 range, and even with that I'm keeping my kit.
Lol, he got banned again.
Only 12 hours this time, but still.
:v:
Use the motherfucking force, luke.
