This is far better than the majority of your other shots.

Also I don't usually do that many shots like this, so I don't know about this: What do people think?
But please tell me why do you take your landscapes at f/2.8 (Cueball).
they were quick shots i took at the side of a road, hand held with parents screaming at me to get in the car [editline]29th May 2011[/editline] http://www.flickr.com/photos/daruma/2542439647/ is just down the road from me, shall i go and shoot this?
i will go back to landscapes, or just stop posting
Get a grip. The reason I'm not impressed by your work is because of your ignorance and knack for posting "spur of the moment crappy pictures". I can tell from most of your landscape descriptions that you're only posting photo's for the attention and pleasure of others, not because of your passion. Addressing ignorance: ewan looking indie by codenamecueball, on Flickr This is by no means a bad photo, it's not intuitive, but that doesn't make it bad. Title: "ewan looking indie". What does that mean? Your the only inspiration you show is in your need to please or displease others. Addressing spur of the moment: early morning work by codenamecueball, on Flickr This just looks like a photo you would take when you've got absolutely nothing to do and have your camera on hand. This photo is ridiculously boring, and getting any criticism on it wouldn't help your abilities on a photographer at all. You have to capture something that impresses you personally. Your main problem as a photographer, from what I see, is that you're looking at everything two-dimensionally. Most of the excellent photographers in this section have their own signature techniques that you can see through their photos. They aren't just taking pictures, their capturing moments in a way that only they can express. That's what differentiates photographers from people with cameras. Unfortunately, your work has sent given you the reputation of just a person with a camera. Most of what you do is either imitating others techniques, or are everyday snapshots. Only when you've found your own niche, can you have utmost passion for something. And don't stop posting just because others are displeased with your work, that's perhaps the weakest thing you can do. Fuck everyone else. If you've got an interest in photography, don't give it up for the sake of others.
Damn straight, bro.
Get a grip.
Agree. Also can someone do something like this on my shots, I'd like to know what I am doing wrong. http://www.flickr.com/photos/isaacbrownbridge/
Damn straight, bro.
Dat nigga be trippin' But yeah, can't just say 'try being artistic', but imagine your rebel as if it is a film camera - imagine every shot costs you 15p and actually think about what you are taking before you do.
Yeah it's not like you're bad at photography, I've seen photos of yours that I love. You're just bad at picking what to post here.
Holy fuck this looks like a painting.
I agree. That shot is brilliant.
I missed the "be totally honest to Cueball" part of the day. D: Curse my clothes shopping.
im not gonna give up, just stop posting my random shots here as all I get are dumb ratings and disagrees because I posted three alright shots of a rock. [editline]29th May 2011[/editline]
I missed the "be totally honest to Cueball" part of the day. D: Curse my clothes shopping.
it's in full swing

I'm fully aware that most of my photos are "that looks neat, I'll take a photo". I don't have my own style. But neither does my friend, and he has some brilliant shit in his gallery. I don't quite get what's wrong with imitation of other techniques, surely in photography of all things you can't expect to have everyone be original. I don't even want to get into that last line of yours, ugh.

[editline]29th May 2011[/editline] it's in full swing
It's because people feel that you put zero effort in your random shots. You just post them to be "witty" and get attention. Not or photography. Just attention. Your landscapes get noticed because it's something no body really expected from you. I just feel that you need more effort.
Cueball post those friend shots on Facebook instead of Flickr and Facepunch.
Cueball post those friend shots on Facebook instead of Flickr and Facepunch.
facebook makes photos look horrid due to compression - i just link them to people i want to garner attention
Facebook is for photos of friends, no one will find those photos of your friends interesting unless they are your friends. And Facebooks compression is fine if you select the hi-res option while uploading.

It's when you take something that's completely yours, do you realize that photography is awesome. I find my shots least rewarding when I can easily compare it to something else.
You probably looked at other people's photos before you've started taking your own, and at that point started developing a sense of what you like and don't like in other people's work. That's going to at least in part dictate which of your own shots you do and don't like, and what you're going to try and do yourself. Looking at other's styles allows you to ask yourself what exactly you find appealing in them, taking those parts, applying them to your own work and improving upon them. Whether you want to or not, you're going to somehow incorporate parts of other people's styles or techniques into your own work.
