People don't tend to comment on pictures much, sadly. I don't really know enough to judge. IMO the sharpness is good, but the picture is a little dull - it needs more of a focus.
Just get a second hand 35mm f/1.8 for a similar cost, the 50mm f/1.8 AF-S is too new for any second hand deals, but the price is pretty low already.
I second this. Totally jealous of my friend's 35mm 1.8.. why can't this exist for Canon? :(

It's actually really awesome how DOF works for large focal lengths. It's not like a traditional aperture DOF where the focal plane is either larger or smaller with aperture size, but what focal length does is magnify the entire scene. This means that the distance between the foreground and background is amplified as well. The focal plane is still technically the same size, it's just everything is so much bigger that the focal plane covers less of the frame.
It's awesome.
Guys this is kinda off topic, sorry but I am planning to become an Audio Visual Technician. Does anyone know or have experience with this? The reason I'm asking here is because one of the requirements needed to be one is photography

Nonikai actually received a fair amount of CC in the FPhoto chat on FB.
But yeah, I liked that thread too. Someone should bring it back.
My first photography taken with a "nice" camera, aka a Canon Ti with 50mm f1.8 Prime lens, with ISO 100 film. Don't hate too much :\ If you don't murder me I'll post some color ones in a few days.

Unfortunately I do not own a flash so the pictures are not as good as yours, but I'm doing my best :raise:
I'm still having troubles post-processing the images, most of the times I just play with sliders in Lightroom and the results are rarely good. :smith:

Those two are great dude! I hadn't shot a race before until that one, it was hard to place the flash in a spot where I knew it would be protected from the wind and the riders' margin for error. I should be doing a private shoot next weekend with the flash much more appropriately placed so look out for that if you're interested :)
Failed my 365, no motivation to try new things at all....it's a horrid feeling because I always relate things like that to my life as a whole. Anyways first day after that episode where I got some nice shots. Had fun, although I wish I had a wider lens with a low F-STOP

I like the first one, and the second one is an interesting quad-ptych(?).
The last 3 thoguh feel fairly flat, as you said, a nice wide big aperture lens would really help out there. One possible approach to get as much DOF as possible would be to put on your longest lens, whatever that may be, possibly 50mm, then walk back 20-30 meters until your lens can get all the cars in at that long focal length, it will narrow the DOF.
bopie did you get my message
i was testing out my camera's long exposure and there just so happened to be a long exposure challenge going on. i only spent 5 minutes on this because it's ridiculously cold outside

yeah boring image/boring idea, but i thought it was neat because of the reflected upside-down green figure on the right.
i'm not sure how that happened, i mean it's obviously the figure on the right but upside-down and green. actually now that i think about it it's just a lens flare. yep.

These black dots seem to be turning up in every photo I take since yesterday and I have no clue what's causing them, any ideas?
