[QUOTE=Emz;30440924]Just put quote tags around it media tags don't seem to work anymore.[/QUOTE]
Quoting it just adds the img_thumb tag.
I have tried the img_thumb tags multiple times without quoting and it never works for me. :saddowns:
I got a question:
Does f/ stops make any difference in focus? Or just exposure?
[QUOTE=arleitiss;30455790]I got a question:

the f/ is directly related to the size of your depth of field. a smaller number (like f/1.8) will have a shallower depth of field- meaning the background behind your subject will be more out of focus, and a higher number (say, f/11) will have more distance to what is considered in focus- good for large areas, landscapes, etc.
For some reason I like this photo so I'm posting it. Taken on my recent trip around the universe.

oh, damn I always had lowest, 5.3. Because I thought it lets me to take pics quickly without need to wait. Ok thanks.

Here is a [b]simplified[/b] explanation of how things work. If you already know this, don't take it as an insult. I just want to make sure you're informed on some basics.
Exposure is an equation made up of three variables.
- 1. Aperture, this is how big the opening in your lens is. It is measured in f/stops, the smaller the number, the bigger the aperture. A smaller aperture (higher number) makes for a sharper image, a larger aperture allows you to make 'blurry' backgrounds. More importantly, it increases/decreases the amount of light going into the camera sensor, which brings me to;
- 2. ISO, this is how sensitive the camera sensor (or film) is to light. The higher you set it, the less light you need to make the picture, but it comes at a cost: increased [i]noise[/i] or graininess.
- 3. Shutter speed. This controls how long your sensor will be exposed to light. A fast shutter speed allows to make a sharp image with less motion blur (freezing action moments, etc.), but you would need to turn up your ISO and/or open up your aperture, as less light is getting to the sensor. A slower shutter speed gives you more light to turn down your ISO and make your aperture smaller, but it will be more blurry if the camera/subject isn't completely still.
You have to balance these three variables to fit your situation in order to get the image you want. Compromise is the name of the game. It takes practice, but it becomes second nature.
New old lens.

[quote][img]http://i.imgur.com/Tyh6n.jpg[/img][/quote]
started thinkin' about keylighting tonight so I just kinda fell into it.
[img]http://gyazo.com/be1de4ba8a84a10137560a95dc92f650.png[/img]
Loving that lighting Dai but the left side of your face is maybe too dark.
Also, today I am starting my 365 project, and I'm being ambitious about it.
Goals are to take a good photo every day(obviously), do at least a half hour to an hour work out or cycle more than 5 miles everyday (the cycling could be for getting to locations for the 365), and take a photo of myself every day.
I'll post my first shot tonight as I'm going out with my camera twice today.
had an alienbees b800 on one side, and my sb-600 as the other. Kind of a given they'd be different powers, but the experiment was more for getting the sb-600 to trigger remotely using the camera's IR send, which dumbly still uses a pre-flash from the pop-up even if you're in full manual, including taking the flash out of TTL mode. This ends up setting off the alienbees' visual trigger too early, and you end up with a poorly lit picture with only the sb-600 firing during the camera shutter action.
tl;dr I had to create a light shield so the camera's pre-flash only triggered the SB-600, which would THEN trigger the B800 at the correct time.
also the light does bother me a little, but it's the best I got before I had to get back to workin'.

How can I improve this?
Don't know if I should use this for 1/365 or go out and take some more.
