why not take some candid portraits then of the people gawking at the cars?
manual settings, tripod. Take several pictures as people walk around different parts of the car, toss all in photoshop and erase the buggers from existence :science: option 2, speak in a british accent and just ask if you can get one good shot at the car, people will think you're a fancy photographer or a wizard or something and get out of the way for a few seconds. also are you using a circular polarizing lens? Most of those shots needed one, but two of the red ones at the end seem to have been properly filtered, as the hoods are almost devoid of any reflection.

Don't ask me how, I'm irish but haven't left the US. :argh:

1- when red cars look like they're partially neon pink; the fade from red to sky blue always seems to be harsh and unnatural when captured. 2- when the car's color is 50% building or other cars there's a balance of taking out the reflections, which the CPL can accomodate with different degrees of rotation. Yes, it can flatten the hell out of cars (like the 2 red ones I mentioned), but leaving 100% glare on the car isn't all too sexy either depending on the situation.
Especially if the environmental reflections on the car were all of fat people.
I see what you mean dai. Also, I found a whole new part of the bush I went to yesterday which I didn't even know existed. I love it when I find new places to explore in my neighborhood which I've never seen in the 6 years I've lived here. I explored a bit of the area but it was getting too dark to take photos. I'll have to take some another day. [editline]19th June 2011[/editline] does anyone know what type of fungi this is? i've never seen anything like it. also it smelled like pure fucking rotten ass.
I see what you mean dai. Also, I found a whole new part of the bush I went to yesterday which I didn't even know I could existed. I love it when I find new places to explore in my neighborhood which I've never seen in the 6 years I've lived here. I explored a bit of the area but it was getting too dark to take photos. I'll have to take some another day.
I discovered there's actually a town (IE: mainstreet with storefronts and a park) in my town just the other month, and I've lived in the area my whole life, driving past both ends of the main road often, and the highway intersection just a quarter mile down the road on a daily basis since I got my driver's license 7 years ago. Feels weird, man. Also, take up Geocaching, even if you don't actively hunt for the caches. I use it to find unique hidden areas in my area. For instance- my house is up on Ivy Ct at the top right. I've lived here for 15 years. Not until last summer did I know that there was a forest preserve right there, which turns out to be part of an old summer camp. I didn't even know there was a lake right there. It gets weirder. That brown patch of grass at the bottom left is actually the remains of the summer camp I went to when I was like 12 years old. Thing is, because of the roads, my parents had to drive a long distance around the main highways to get to the other side of the lake; this made me think that this location was miles out in the middle of nowhere, but here it was, just barely peeking at my house through the trees, and all because I saw a box sitting right there across the road when I loaded up geocaching's map. From there, holy shit. Abandoned summercamps are amazing and weird, for instance I did a little wandering into the fields to explore a bit, which landed me in the square patch in the center of the picture, where the trees have a heavy shadow. The trees are taller there, and only there, behind a gigantic rusted baseball backing with trees growing intermeshed through the chain links. I used it for one of my girlfriend's projects late last summer, and I'd REALLY like to get back out there again for a new shoot with the past year's experience and my newer toys. as a matter of fact, I visited the preserve two days ago, after having been up for 20 hours working. Sudden burst of energy and inspiration, I suppose. I'll dig through my camera and see if I caught any keepers; I'd like to think the handful of ticks I found crawling around on my legs were worth it. [editline]yay[/editline] bonus content, this old shot was taken looking straight down the road through the middle of that picture, I saw the color hit and ran the fuck out of my house and up to the road- [link]
That is really awesome dai. I love finding amazing places at just a walking distance away. I'm gonna have to fire up google maps and see what else I've missed out on in my neighborhood.
bud, try this- http://www.geocaching.com/map/beta/default.aspx?lat=-33.8689&lng=151.20709 also, nothing really of interest from the walk, but fuck some of these shots will be awesome with fog. Also visited my friend's farm, scouting photoshoot locations and was interested in the barn. Turns out, there's barnkitties and some defensive parent cats. They were very adamant at keeping me away from the barn door. Hold up, I'll post a mini gallery in my workshop thread in a few minutes

Had to do some "fine art" images for an assignment project. Something completely different to what I prefer doing.

I thought it was a clear night last night so I attempted to make a night sky time lapse only to be foiled later by clouds.

Taking pictures of eyes, I like the results for the first time I've tried this. Would be better if you were closer to the eyes, and then you should crank up the saturation and brightness. [editline]19th June 2011[/editline] /cc
