Canon 35/2? It's only a tiny amount less light than a 35/1.8. [editline]2nd July 2011[/editline] It's fairly sharp in the area that's in focus (The tree behind the model)
I've heard the 35mm f/2 isn't very good, and the price of it is still bad in comparison to the Nikon equivalent.

Some photos from today with almost no editing save for white balance, CC/improvements? Lol gonna climb Arthurs seat drunk, maybe photos. [editline]2nd July 2011[/editline] B-Hazard, those are fucking incredible.
Like those shots B-Hazard; I just think the last two are a little under-exposed.
It's probably just me, but I find the photos incredibly boring. She's very inexpressive, and does nothing to prep up the scene.
I like what she's doing in the first and seconds ones, but they aren't very sharp.
It's probably just me, but I find the photos incredibly boring. She's very inexpressive, and does nothing to prep up the scene.
That's a tad harsh. I wouldn't say 'incredibly' boring, but I do agree that they need a little more expression. I'm not getting any 'feeling' from this set. Second one is the best out of all of them, IMO.

its really dark and I can't see much its a picture of an eye I don't know, it's just not interesting to me. I like giving cc on pictures that I find interesting, but that I can still see flaws in.
Personally, I find it far too dark. Seeing shots like that I expect to be able to see the vibrant colour in the eye, but that is so dark I can barely see the whites in the eye. It almost seems, and this may sound a bit harsh, like it's nearly a subjectless photo because of how little there seems to be to focus on due to how dark the photo is, in my opinion.

I also took some film shots which I used props in and did more interesting locations in the woods such as a churchyard. [editline]3rd July 2011[/editline] I dislike it when you have the flash visible in the photos for some reason.
Yeah I do too! However, to get the flash's light where I want it, it usually ends up being in frame, or for the top two, practicality. There was literally nowhere to put the flash where it wouldn't be stepped on or ridden over except on a fake Gorillapod wrapped around a tree branch that had been partially broken off it's tree. Bonus: This bloke nearly knocked my flash over by taking the weirdest line in history, scared the titties off me.
I think it gives the picture some sort of work in progress feel, a raw feel. The fact that the motif is off-roading bikes gives it even more of a raw feeling, and I quite like it. Of course, this is why there are no arguments in "Photography", each man has his own sense of what's attractive to the eye, there's no denying a man his opinion. And that's why I love this section!

Hello guys, I'm quite new here on the forums, but I can see that most of you in this subsection are awesome photographers. I'm trying to start my career as one, so I recently bought my first gear and took some initial photos. Here are some examples : A Touch of Evil por Reeves.5, en Flickr Shiny Yanma por Reeves.5, en Flickr Are you showing your tongue? por Reeves.5, en Flickr Zoomed-in View por Reeves.5, en Flickr As you can see, I love bugs. Unfortunately, I don't have macro lenses for more detailed photos. I also have some more in my SD, but my internet here is too slow to upload them, sorry. Constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.
Was fucking about with a Kodack Z730, little point and shoot thing, seeing what I could get with it. It's not a very well camera, the lens makes a CRACK noise whenever it moves and the Auto-Focus is stange. Still managed to get this shot with it, though it was pretty good for the camera.
To be honest it just sounds like you were trying to be #'~artistic!!!~'# There are other ways you could draw attention to the eye apart from horribly underexposing it.
Uhm yes?? Isn't that the point of art. To be ARTISTIC??
Uhm yes?? Isn't that the point of art. To be ARTISTIC??
I said ~artistic~ not artistic. Eg ~artistic~ HDR rape.
the tildes completely change the meaning.
Uhm yes?? Isn't that the point of art. To be ARTISTIC??
Yeah man that shot just sucks It looks like you cropped a part of your eye out of a shot taken with a crappy point and shoot whilst being out of focus. [editline]3rd July 2011[/editline] Sorry if that's harsh
Uhm yes?? Isn't that the point of art. To be ARTISTIC??
I think the problem is that you had to explain it. It's (usually) not decent art if you have to explain it, just like it's not a decent joke if you have to explain it.
