I Lol'd when I saw that giant DS-like controller for the little robot
Isn't there a whole illustrated art series on uniformed soldiers in this style? I always see it under military history section of bookstores
Osprey Publishing's series of books have been the premier source for that kind of military illustration. The one below is taken from an Elite-series book called "The Military Sniper since 1914"

I am so incredibly erect right now.
Probably the most attractive SMG I've ever seen.
I love full foregrip SMGs though, M12 is awesome as well

Well yea, you just have to answer a few questions to make anything pretty close to military standards.
- Can it survive arms fire in the environment it will be in?
- Can it be maintained and cleaned on the field?
- Can if navigate dependably under a variety of situations?
So judging off these three questions, applying it to the concept of "anti infantry/light armor robot" will get you this:
- Angled metal plating/ simple, compact pieces (for example the treads are just flat rectangles with metal circles and tubes, most of that won't be too inconvenienced by small arms fire.)
- Being that it is basically a metal box with treads and a gun other than the actual electronics system you can maintain it relatively easy with the same training as any other vehicle using the same design. (most of them)
- And of course treads are generally the best option for any combat orientated machine for the ease of access to multiple terrain types.

M81 and PASGT gear is always the first thing I think of when I think "soldier" even today.
I find it weird how the ALICE pack used to be an issued item and is now a specialty item that only selected units use, at least in the SAF
My MICH helmet chin strap is spoilt so I'm now using a PASGT helmet and holy shit it's so much more comfortable even if the padding at the back of the head is a lot less, I think it might be because it's bigger than MICH. I think I might just end up using PASGT for good
Anyway I just finished the GPMG commander course and am now qualified to be the sergeant in charge of a GPMG team
Honestly one of the most fun courses I've been to

It's funny you mention that about the MICH/ACH over the PASGT
"Advanced Combat Helmet (ACH) is based on the MICH design and provides an improved helmet to soldiers, replacing the older PASGT. It provides increased 9mm bullet protection. Comes with pad suspension system and the four-point chinstrap. Primary users: originally Army, now all services. The GI helmet pads by Team Wendy are still issued, making the helmets almost unwearable so troops take them off or loosen the chin straps trying to get relief…ruining their protection."
Honestly, I just re arranged the pads in mine until it felt comfortable and fit well; I'd love one of those Ops-Core FAST style helmets though.
This image is watermarked from an airsoft site, but the images are of the real helmet:

Singapore Armed Forces, most likely.
I wish the US would upgrade to them and issue electronic ear pro with integrated comms as standard; just the ability to hear everything with the gain cranked up is incredibly helpful.

Better that than the stupid Modular Handgun System pistol replacement program...

Except we actually need to replace our service pistol. The M9 is so old, there are models hanging around arms rooms with no finish.
An ACH will stop shrapnel just as effectively as those high-speed bike helmets, and we don't need to give expensive electronics to every joe. Just issue this shit.

Then they should just upgrade to the M9A3 and be done with it; they aren't hardly used in combat compared to the service rifle anyway.
Those helmets would be lighter and more comfortable than the current ACH and as we know, ounces equal pounds, pounds equal pain.
I was issued those earplugs and I like them, but I like the electronic earpro much more.
Communication is key in combat and having comms beats yelling over earplugs and gunfire.

The M9's alright, but if we can find a cheaper, better alternative, I'm all for it.
Those helmets would be lighter and more comfortable than the current ACH and as we know, ounces equal pounds, pounds equal pain.
I can see issuing it out to combat units, but I can't think of a reason for a guy who sits behind the wheel of a truck or in a TOC or a tower all day to be wearing one.

I can see issuing it out to team leaders and up, don't get me wrong. You give everyone a radio though, guess what. Commo just turned into a shitfest of everyone trying to yell over everyone else. If you're just issuing the earpiece for the earpro, that's wasteful, and you're better off issuing the inexpensive rubber and plastic.
I'm still baffled how the M9 continually beats a glock
The M9's alright, but if we can find a cheaper, better alternative, I'm all for it.
The problem is, they don't just purchase the pistol, they purchase replacement parts, tools, magazines, service packages, etc.
They already have those things for the M9, 90% of which carry over to the M9A3.

Why not? Anyone driving a "tactical vehicle" has to wear a kevlar, so why not make it less bulky and more comfortable?
Fobbits don't use them often, but FOBs do get attacked; that being said, much of the support personnel are reservists with second line equipment.
Well they wouldn't be replaced all at once anyway, and I'm sure the reserves would be using the ACH/MICH for a while.

No, because there are already rules in place for comms discipline.

Bureaucracy and Budget beats Glock, not the M9.
So i want an opinion fellas. I know there's a firearms thread over in GD but i like you guys, so i'm asking here first. There's what seems to be a Stevens Model 94, after a bit of research, at a Cabela's that i've had my eyes on for a little while, especially since it's going for around $137, but it's got a few issues. Nothing major, just a little weathered and the stock wobbles a bit when you break it open and close it. D'you think it's worth picking up and giving it some love?
Have you been able to shoot it? I personally wouldn't fire a gun that has a unstable stock as if something goes wrong I am the one responsible for wherever that bullet goes.
Well, depending on if you know why the stock is wobbly, you can repair that yourself? I dunno if that's allowed or whatever, but if you are allowed to handle it, you could ask about the stock and stuff, see if they know why it's loose. But apart from that, can't go wrong with break open shotguns, especially Stevens (well, I should say savage, but whatever).

I don't know if Cabela's allows that, but i agree. They're more of a smaller franchise, similar to Dick's and the like, rather than a local gun shop, but i suppose it'd be worth it to ask.

Just seems like the screws on the plate connecting the trigger guard to the stock are a little loose and you can feel the plate shift when you close it, so it's not like the wood is broken or cracked and it's wobbling ready to fall apart. And you can handle them, they've got blocks in the way so you can't mess with the triggers, but you can mess with the action.
I guess my main point is if they're solid, reliable guns. I wouldn't waste time asking an employee about it if it's shoddy when i can just ask around, i s'pose, especially when you guys are just giving me an opinion rather than actively trying to sell it to me.
It's a break-action single-barrel. There is no reason not to own it. No way for it to not be reliable except if it's actually literally worn to shit.
That would be fucking expensive as shit, and not help all that much.
Not really, it already costs ~$30k to outfit a soldier, adding a few hundred dollars more for electronic earpro is nothing.
