I thought the SU-100 was a Hetzer for a moment and got kinda wet
The world seriously needs more tracked and wheeled tank destroyers. By the way, whatever happened to the US Army's plan to make a new light tank?
That was the M8. [t]http://www.militaryimages.net/media/m8-ags.31823/full?lightbox=1[/t] [t]http://tanknutdave.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/M8-Thunderbolt-Master-2-has-hull-armor.jpg[/t] They were almost ready to accept it, but then cancelled the program it in the late 90s and used the Stryker MGS instead. BAE showed off an modernized and upgraded version at a show last year and were apparently trying to tempt the US Army with it again, but that doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. [t]http://defence-blog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/CQqVwGiW8AAmMaJ-e1444204483944.jpe[/t] EDIT: The other tank designs submitted for the AGS competition were the Cadillac-Gage Stingray (Which Thailand bought some of) and Teledyne's Expeditionary Tank, which nobody bought any of and it was canned. [t]http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2014/50/1418417603-teledyne-continental-motors-ags.png[/t] I don't know if it was submitted for the AGS competition, but there's also a couple of AAI light tank designs that were proposed at some point. I think they were kind of cool. The M8 (Thunderbolt?) and that second last tank are both in the game Act of Aggression, the latter has a railgun cannon tho.

They still got 2nd place in the finals
tank sport is best sport, fuck the Olympics everyone should be watching the Tank Biathlon
I wish that one day more countries will be invited, that would be a HUGE dick-measuring contest.

It fucking weighs less then the M82 Lighty.
That thing is fucking sexy
I wish that one day more countries will be invited, that would be a HUGE dick-measuring contest.
I want to see how well the Abrams would do against the T90 series.
I wish that one day more countries will be invited, that would be a HUGE dick-measuring contest.
The US and various NATO countries were initially invited to the 1st Tank Biathlon World Championship in 2014. And then the events in Crimea/Ukraine happened http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2013/08/10/210837966/russia-invites-u-s-to-a-tank-biathlon
I want to see how well the Abrams would do against the T90 series.
Exactly. I'm tired of chairborne experts screaming "T-90 IS BETTER THAN ABRAMS!" "NO, ABRAMS IS BETTER!" Get 'em in the field and let them compete.
how much does a tank wheel like that weigh? i was thinking about the part where they have to go recover it and they don't seem like the sort of things that a regular dude could just pick up and carry

Might not be as aesthetically pleasing but it just looks like an armoured car with a tank turret thrown on top which is cool in its own way
I wish that one day more countries will be invited, that would be a HUGE dick-measuring contest.
Just FYI there's a similar military contest called the Nordic Tank Challenge which has been hosted in Denmark since 2014 where the best crews from each attending country complete a variety of tasks and maneuvers. Here's a vid done (alongside an article) by the US Army showing some footage from NTC 2016:

Yes
That is some spontaneous weight reduction right there. Obviously they didn't need that wheel anyway
Can we also test out nukes to see which country has better nukes
Can we also test out nukes to see which country has better nukes
That would be the nuclear Winter Olympics.
but seriously a bomb olympics would be funny and snowball real fast into nuclear weapons
Counter Ballistics Olympics then?
Russia drops Tsar Bomba Mk II, everyone else loses
They'd win the heavyweight title for sure, but the US would beat them out in the accuracy contest. Assuming Putin hasn't been secretly developing still more new toys.
