Maybe it's just the graininess of the photo, but they kinda make me think of 1970s-era cameras.

The only way that baton could be cooler is if it was telescoping and was stored in the handle with a spring-action release mechanism.

Which functions as a 1000x voltage Taser, and has visible arcs of electricity discharging around it.
Asian countries have had those types of things for years. They usually have them at train stations and stuff to try to stop knife attackers.

They want to be ready for when they install the neon and go full cyberpunk dystopia.
Jesus christ, those goddamn spiked maces. Anyway, it's a really strange weapon choice imo. Even impying the soldiers have some experience with the weapon(which is kinda doubtful), the mace's still too slow to quickly take down a running guy with a knife and too long to safely swing it in crowded places. Isn't it just easier and safer to taser a bastard instead or shoot them if there's no other choise?
Judging by the angle of the spikes, if you essentially use it as a spear you impale them and they're stuck and can't get any closer until they back off and try again.

Looking at it some more, including the big spike on top, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to use it with a thrusting motion.

If we assume they see the attacker, they wont swing the mace around violently, instead they'll point it towards him/her, to appear more threatening and keeping some distance between themselves and the attacker.
We should also assume there wont be just one person with a mace, but that they work together with at least one other person. Not only can the numbers be discouraging, but they also wield long maces, pointing the spikes at you.
If the attacker decides to continue their assault, despite being outnumbered and having spiked maces pointing at them, the soldiers can use their reach to their advantage.
Granted, this is a best-case scenario.
Also, they would never wield something they weren't trained to use.
It's basically the same concept as those forks but using fear of injury as the constraint rather than strength.
But that sounds more like a defensive tactic, while their sole purpose is to take down attackers as quickly as possible, not to keep a distance from them. Actually it's in an attacker's best interests to stay away from the soldiers and just keep butchering people around. And again, it's not completely clear what advantages does that mace have over a regular ranged weapon like a taser or a pistol.
But anyway, I guess they're equipped with both, so probably the mace is more of a deterrent than an actual combat weapon.

it's like a giant tard wrangler stick
Could also be symbolic to try and convince the general populace that they're taking a hard stance on knife attacks, or even trying to intimidate possible knife attackers.
But that's just a guess, I don't know much about the nature of these attacks.

one would assume if things got bad the guy with an actual gun would step up and just shoot the attacker. china really hasnt ever had any qualms about public shootings or collateral damage
How can you harvest their organs if you put bullet holes in them?
What a waste.

Then we come back to the fact that it's still a polearm, with a spiked mace at one end.
If need be, that thing can deliver a whole lot of hurt if an attacker is not deterred, or decides to turn his attention somewhere else.
It would however be sensible carry something like a taser or a pistol along with the mace.

Uzkon Arms made a F2000-like shotgun
So I have been doing some of my usual rounds on the internet and came across some weird as fug relic - The Nitron N-32 gas powered cannon.

It shoots 31.75mm ball bearings at roughly 1000fps. Haven't been able to find much more on what exactly happened to the company, but with that much firepower, I'd imagine the ATF had a few words with them.
This is one of the first cannons I have seen of this type with so much umpf on it.
that's some middle school emo band-level video editing

I'd assume so, people know that the chinese don't fuck around. Chinese soldiers with spiked maces even less.

Man, when you said F2000, I thought you meant like, forwards ejecting badass shit. Now I'm disappointed :c
I mean, it still looks rad. Overly heavy and clumsy, but at least it's not a tube-fed pump or semi auto like all combat shotguns ever* were up to like, 2005ish.
*saiga-12 excluded, of course.

That video is probably the least impressive thing I've ever seen. "Oh it can punt holes in 2mm of mild steel at short range, and do so with poor accuracy!".
