What is the AK-400 exactly? An AKM with some new furniture?

What would be a good "first rifle" to own for relatively cheap? And that is also not blocked by all the dumb Canadian laws?
What would be a good "first rifle" to own for relatively cheap? There's a bunch of info and other guys that will help.

It is intended as a Personal Defense Weapon for military vehicle and crew-served weapons crews, as well as a lightweight CQB weapon for Special Forces. When folded, MA’s overall length does not excess 50 cm, which is about 20cm shorter than standard-issue AK-74M with stock folded. «During development of new small arms we are closely interacting with our most competent users, combat personnel from Russian Armed and Law Enforcement forces” - remarked Alexey Krivorucko, “Kalashnikov” CEO. - We are sure that MA concept will be in high demand from our Military and LE customers, because its light weight and small size makes this gun very handy during various Special Operations”. Design of the 5.45mm MA compact assault rifle uses the most modern materials and ergonomic features. Unlike traditional Kalashnikov assault rifles, MA has an inverted-U shaped compact steel receiver which hosts bolt group. This ensures that integrated Picatinny rail at the top is always properly aligned with the barrel and no re-sighting of any scope or sight would be required after hard use or disassembly and maintenance. MA uses short-stroke gas piston operated action with rotary bolt locking. The lower receiver is made from polymer and is integral with magazine housing, trigger housing and pistol grip. Rifle features ambidextrous control and side-folding adjustable plastic shoulder stock. For special operations, it can be issued with quick-detachable tactical sound suppressor.
That eerily reminds me of the combat rifles in Blacklight Retribution.
I just love those hole grips.

Old-ass thing, about five variants of it were made. None of them reached production or adoption, just like you'd expect from Russian prototypes, especially the interesting ones.
I just love those hole grips.
It's weird to think how thumbhole stocks came to their own with the AWB Era(1994 - 2004), and now they are just something everyone loves because of how useful they can be. Necessity, the mother of all inventions. Also.... Kitted our ARES SCR [t]http://i60.tinypic.com/2efj1w7.jpg[/t] Such a gorgeous rifle. With woodstock, or without.
useful
Explain, please.
Explain, please.
AWB laws made it so you couldn't have pistol grips, some creative bastards realized that by having thumbholes, you could have pistol grips, and still be in the law. [t]http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f392/we34gde4/NEAwithACatStockjpg2_zps58052d7c.jpg[/t] One example of a state-AWB compliant gun. By having the stock wireframed, it's still legal, even though it's pistol grip. They can be useful though, as thumbhole stocks tend to create a better center of gravity.
:wow:
as sexy as that is, isnt a semi auto g36 kind of pointless since the ingenious piece is the roller block mechanism which makes for a smooth full auto or burst fire rifle
"Common sense" gun control.
Common sense would be getting your fucking bullshit claims fact checked and realising youre a total moron that should stay the hell away from politics [editline]7th September 2016[/editline] In case it isnt obvious I meant people like the above two videos show us :v:
tbh, I just love how the SL8 looks, it strokes my eyes properly.

F.E.A.R. turned me onto the SL8 [t]http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/fear/images/a/a1/FEAR_prev_012.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140702170256[/t]

[HD]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FJdTz94k3g[/HD] EDIT: Actually, that might be EXACTLY what this is. If so, it's pretty neat that a major arms manufacturer would look back to an old, aging prototype from the cold war to inspire a new, modern-day firearm.
