(It is actually pretty cool, but the UMP is still an odd thing to compare it to given how it's pretty big for an SMG.)
Probably because it's big for an SMG. Your brain goes "LMGs = big, SMGs = small", then you see an LMG next to an SMG that is small by how your brain contextualizes it, and go "Wow that's impressive!"

Its a vector with some sci fi slapped on it.
I forgot that you guys would recognize the template gun immediately.
that thing looks like someone fucking mauled a lego block and put it on there for maximum 999x ad aesthetic, then tore off the stock for ultimate tactic00l
A cyborg duel wielding those like pistols would be badass though.
What the fuck, how would that fire and not catch fire in the process.
I'm pretty sure it would just mean that your fired bullets would set you target on fire while the weapon itself is on fire.
[editline]18th September 2016[/editline]
It's actually kinda ingenious idea - the longer the weapon is being fired, the higher chance that it will be set on fire. When it's on fire, it does damage to the user, but also does additional fire damage. When it stop firing, it goes after a few seconds (enough time to reload without losing the "buff").

The US Army is developing a new Enhanced Tactical Multi-Purpose (ET-MP) hand grenade
[t]http://www.ardec.army.mil/news/ShowImage.ashx?id=2620[/t]
-has a selector switch that sets the explosive effect to fragmentation/concussive
-more consistent electronic fuse
-is designed for ambidextrous use
http://www.ardec.army.mil/news/article.aspx?id=2620
Doesn't have the wow factor of Rheinmetall 's jumping airburst grenade or the stackable grenades, but it seems like a practical upgrade

Honestly, I'd prefer if they sticked with the lego grenade.

Nah, the logistics would be a pain in the ass. At training ranges, you'd end up having more unused explosive segments than leftover fuzes, and that would mean you'd have to turn it in at the ASP. ASP turn-in for live ammo/munitions is, from what I've been told, a convoluted and frustrating experience compared with just turning in spent brass and dunnage.

Daudson 40mm grenade launcher
What's even the point of that underbarrel version if there isn't any room to rock an AK mag in
You'd also have a problem with dumbass grunts connecting as many of them together as possible then getting themselves killed.
Why is the underbarrel version so huge
Is there like an actual purpose to the fuckoff gigantic hunk of metal that comes with it or is it just plain poor design?
Why did they switch to sliding instead of hinged for the underbarrel? I thought hinged was better since it allowed rounds of any length to be used, that's why the AG36/M320, FN40GL/Mk13 mod 0 and ML40AUS all use hinged breeches.
You'd also have a problem with dumbass grunts connecting as many of them together as possible then getting themselves killed.
It wouldn't be due to attempting to throw it either. We'd probably connect them together and duel each other like they're bo-staffs.
The Zastava M70 AB2 will be returning back into service of the Slovenian Army (SV) due to ammunition constraints for the FN2000. The reason is the lower and lower budget for the army, which has been cut up to 344 milllion euros, but they promised to up the budget in the next year up to 366 million euros (if there will be one, I'll stop praying at St. Nikoli).

from what i've seen of other 40mm grenade launchers, the pressure is high because you have to lob a big heavy grenade as far as possible, so you have to build it heavy
it really looks like someone in management sort of dictated that they had to have an underbarrel option for sales purposes though

I dunno what underbarrel launchers you've been looking at 'cause most of the ones I know are effectively just tubes with triggers, just like the standalone version is

With the recent rise of terror related attacks in Germany, particularly with knives, machetes and axes, German police are now issuing more officers with chainmail. It’s kind of an odd mix of old world medieval armor with modern day tactical equipment.
