[del]Actually a BAE systems Black Knight unmanned ground combat vehicle[/del] Isn't nature wonderful
I knew it, Advance Wars predicted the future of warfare! Can't wait for 10 year olds to send hundreds of men to their deaths in combat against tanks, using only small arms.
I'd rather take my chances with a real Styer AUG that takes Nato mags instead of something from Australia.
At least our Austeyr has a bayonet lug. In all seriousness though the Austeyr is a pretty damn solid rifle and Lithgow do a damn good job producing them.

Regiment idea is (obviously) a bunch of Guardsmen from a heavily medieval themed region of space. The axe-bayonets were inspired by Vostroyans and real-life gun axes, figuring they'd make pretty good melee weapons if they don't have time to draw their swords, and unlike a bayonet probably carry enough force to turn an Ork skull into chunky salsa. Whoever thought that up is a genius. Too bad it's probably really front heavy
Whoever thought that up is a genius. Too bad it's probably really front heavy
They aren't terribly heavy. Of course with the original flintlocks and wheellocks, they were single shot, and you probably only -had- one shot before the enemy was upon you (or you were upon them).

[t]https://rogueadventurer.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/img_9227.jpg[/t] Apparently it's a lot more user-friendly than the current Austeyr+M203 combo pictured at the bottom
Saw a couple of episodes of The Expanse yesterday, god I love the MCRN uniforms. They also have some converted G36s (?) from the look of the barrel. The Expanse is my new favorite series, it's like firefly, only grittier.
i always loved how every designer sort of just ignored the takeoff and landing aspect of all parasite concepts. if the fighters need to takeoff themselves, form up, dock and then they can all fly, how are you saving anything? the navy's airship at least was an airship so it wasnt burning fuel to stay up
The point of these carriers is that the fighters just hang on. It greatly increases their range. Or at least, it's supposed to.
weird that they'd go with a gun that's exclusively an airsoft gun but it looks cool as hell
How in the world is that weird? It's a surefire way to have guns that don't just look like a dressed up AR15 or AK. [editline]12th October 2016[/editline] Also it's cheap and you don't need a firearms instructor on-set all the time you use them.
The point of these carriers is that the fighters just hang on. It greatly increases their range. Or at least, it's supposed to.
ya but the carrier has to loiter for some time before the aircraft dock and meet up burning lots of gas in the process. the planes like those depicted only had a couple hours of fuel at best
http://www.evike.com/products/41551/ weird that they'd go with a gun that's exclusively an airsoft gun but it looks cool as hell
As someone already said, it's a good (and probably fairly cheap when compared to custom, built-from-scratch high-grade weapon props) way to make fictional realistic-esque rifles without the need for weapons training and so on. As well, the MCRN AR is designed as a weapon for use in space and on the ground, hence it fires caseless flechette dart cartridges at a high fire rate (each projectile being small but dense and designed to pierce armor) so that in space, it can kill by rupturing suits and exposing enemies to vacuum, while on the ground/inside a ship it's a good bullet hose. In some of the other The Expanse series books (and likely going to be shown in the show's 2nd season), Earth and Mars' militaries also do field some heavier infantry weapons for various special purposes besides small-caliber autorifles like that one. As well, here's a better pic of the MCRN rifle prop: [t]http://i.imgur.com/crfWls1.jpg[/t]
Oh god why was this a thing. [t]http://i.imgur.com/QSHG1uO.jpg[/t] The Villar Perosa M15. Designed to be used in planes, but was also used by ground troops. Chambered in 9x19mm glisenti, so I don't know if it can handle parabellum. Probably would blow up. Why Italy, WHY?
italian arms design is pretty much all shitty to be honest
Hold the fuck up
Man,that Unica Revolver is BADASS!

Chambered in 9x19mm glisenti, so I don't know if it can handle parabellum. Probably would blow up. Why Italy, WHY?
It actually makes sense when you consider that it was developed for aircraft use before synchronized machine guns, and that WWI biplanes were extremely delicate and even a pistol round could do major damage to them. Of course, Ian has a video on them that explains it better: What's really funny is that the Austro-Hungarians were so impressed with it being used in an infantry role they built their own copy: two frommer stops in .32 acp converted to full auto and mounted upside-down on a special tiny tripod [t]http://i2.guns.ru/forums/icons/forum_pictures/0/000816/816125.jpg[/t] Here's another image of it being used along with the Steyr dopplepistole M.12 and a normal Stop machine pistol:
A warning before you get into the Expanse. It had the potential to be a great hard-scifi book series/tv show, but after the first book it goes STRAIGHT to soft-scifi with ayyy lmaos. It's a really jarring change of pace that I couldn't handle. On topic, I love the "pom-pom" guns from WWI. Ridiculously powerful 37mm machineguns that are basically autocannons, and massive overkill for pretty much anything on the battlefield at the time. You could hunt Tyranids with that thing.
http://www.evike.com/products/41551/ weird that they'd go with a gun that's exclusively an airsoft gun but it looks cool as hell
Probably why they used it, not to mention they're cheap. All the guns in The Raid movies were airsoft guns as well. At least they didn't cheap out and use Nerf guns like some other shows [IMG]http://spielbergfanclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Terra-Nova-soldier-with-gun.jpg[/IMG]
you probably didn't make it to the 2nd series then. [sp] the cold space war gets hot [/sp]
there's a 2nd series?????
there's a 2nd series?????
Cibola's Burn is the start of the 2nd set of books, the third one should be out soon. the first one is ya, different not as much space action but some good space stuff, lots of sci-fi and [sp]weird as shit alien technology[/sp] then the next one is fucking depressing and lots of shooting

If the anti-terror drill ends with mannequins dressed as civilians getting blown up I think that the CTU involved has some research to do... :v:
Maybe those are incredibly fashionable terrorists being dispatched. [editline]13th October 2016[/editline] It is South Korea, after all.

There really is something sublime about seeing a cloud of inhuman human figures being tossed by an explosion, all standing ramrod straight, unreacting even as they're torn to bits.
Are there any semi-automatic gas-operated rifles like the G43 where the stock covers the gas piston like so? I really love the a e s t h e t i c s of how it accentuates the height difference between the top of the receiver and the bore axis and gives the front of the weapon that kind of piscine bow to it.
im not exactly sure what you're talking about but the m1 carbine looks pretty similar to that gun
[t]http://www.rpgfirearms.com.au/CLIP-ART/VZ52.JPG[/t] I like the VZ-52/57. It's like a refined SKS
