I'm not sure why though, it might be as to protect them from identification incase the accessories are made in Sweden or it could be because soldiers often scrabble down stuff on their weapons which could become clues to their identities.
It's to protect procurement. If a foreign analysis group knew the exact model of some niche device being used by a small special forces unit, it would be a lot easier to gain access to manufacturer data on who's buying those devices and use that to determine overall force size and location than to try to recruit an insider from a special forces organization.
that is the coolest counter to intelligence warfare i've ever heard.
gotta love me some stryker 105mm gun carriage
that is the coolest counter to intelligence warfare i've ever heard.
Think about it, somewhere in the Pentagon there is a possibly bespecticled analyst that is pouring over data from manufacturers of boots, tactical knives, tactical shovels and tactical toilet paper just to get an edge on other special forces
So breaking the tradition of being ultra-secret, the Swedish Armed forces release six whole pictures (!!!) of the Swedish SOG. Keep in mind that the SOG, the number of members, current commanding officer, homebase etc. is all classified information. This leads to pictures being extremely rare and AFAIK there's like five older pictures at best from different years (Mali & Afghanistan), so yeah, enjoy. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/71236376/SOG/SOG01.jpg[/t] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/71236376/SOG/SOG02.jpg[/t] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/71236376/SOG/SOG03.jpg[/t] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/71236376/SOG/SOG04.jpg[/t] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/71236376/SOG/SOG05.jpg[/t] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/71236376/SOG/SOG06.jpg[/t] Before anyone asks, they use some Crye pattern that is a form of MultiCam "copy".
The big gambit is these are actually pics of their SOG out all together in full-force
Nah, there's hunreds of 'em. You see all those trees? Yeah? Yeah...
You're telling me you've never heard your table laugh as you crack a joke or hear your chairs whistle at you?
Jokes on you I don't own any IKEA products. This is all a conspiracy. I knew something was wrong with all those extra screws!
Thankfully the swedish attempts to bring chaos and discontent upon the world is hampered by their infinite ineptitude.
Thankfully the swedish attempts to bring chaos and discontent upon the world is hampered by their infinite ineptitude.
you paint a very lovely picture with words. could you give me your opinion on 4.6x30mm in the same format please?

So just to break my stereotype old-grumpy-conservative-wont-change-my-mind-for-nothing-fuck mold for a while, here's some content, inspired from a thread in SH that you prolly already all seen. Nukes! Not ICBMs or plane-dropped-bombs. Cool sorts of nuke-delivery-systems. Ranging from the well-known... [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/43/DavyCrockettBomb.jpg[/t] "Firing this would leave the user dead in the blastzo-" NO! SHUT UP! It wouldn't. Stop being a dumbass. 10-20 tons worth of TNT going up with this thing, nothing impressive, and you'd be plenty safe as long as you shoot'n'scoot as you are supposed to, and eat your calcium tablet just to be sure. To the slightly-less-well-known but sorta-more-awesome... [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/57/W48_155-millimeter_nuclear_shell.jpg[/t] [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/66/8-12_Med_Regt_%28USMC%29.jpg[/t] I like those 'cause they're regular 155mms. Can lay down quite a mess in quite a short time, if you were insane enough to actually fire a full battery's barrage. Wouldn't be much use, tactically or strategically, but would certainly be a spectacle to behold, and I like that. Tiny yield of 'only' 72 tons. Then we get into the 'okay this is sorta crazy' territory... [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/67/Convair_F-106A_Delta_Dart_1.jpg/640px-Convair_F-106A_Delta_Dart_1.jpg[/t] [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/01/Plumbbob_John_Nuclear_Test.jpg[/t] AIR-2 'Genie'. Nuclear dumbfire (unguided) air-to-air rocket. 1.5kt yield. To take out entire bomber formations. And then, of course, the arguably most overkill of them all... [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/44/UncleNuclearTest1951.jpg[/t] [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/f4/Medium_Atomic_Demolition_Munition_%28internal%29.jpg/800px-Medium_Atomic_Demolition_Munition_%28internal%29.jpg[/t] W54 'Medium Atomic Demolition Munition'. Often called a suitcase nuke, though that's misleading. As it was actually intended to be used, it was a nuclear landmine. Same warhead as the Davey Crockett, but variable up to 1kt and intended to explode right under your ass as you try to cross the mountain-ranges into western europe. Boom, dirty commie.
That's a hell of a landmine
Also inspired by that SH thread: The Shkval Supercavitating torpedo. A rocket-powered torpedo that can reach speeds of at least 200 knots or 370km/h. They fly so fast that they cause supercavitation, which is what you see in the second pic where an air bubble surrounds almost the entire torpedo. In a sense, this torpedo is literally flying inside a bubble it creates as it travels. It's reportedly designed to intercept other torpedoes and, yes, was initially designed to carry nuclear payloads.
Just 'cause I'm writing a paper on her and she's Danish and awesome and shit... [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f5/Rolf_Krake_at_Dybb%C3%B8l_1864.jpg[/t] Mothafukken Rolf Krake up this bitch. See that shit? First European full-ironclad to serve in a battle. What did she do? Sail straight-up in front of a Prussian artillery battery, facing the opposite way, to bombard Prussian troops assaulting positions on the opposite side of the fjord. The artillery was too shit-scared of shooting their own people, so they didn't dare opening fire on that big badass opening up with four 68-pounders on their folks. During a battle, this big, unwieldy chunk of fuck-you received well over a hundred hits from Prussian artillery guns, but only suffered three casualties in the form of slightly-wounded gunners and a burnt down ship-kitchen.

I like how it has a swash-plate up front for steering.
Pretty sure the bubble around the torpedo is created by chemical gas generators, it's fast because of the bubble, not bubbling because of speed Edit: welp, looks like I remembered wrong
