The G2's enlarged trigger guard and redesigned STANAG-compatible magwell improve its looks a lot IMO.

And the FAMAS FÉLIN getting rid of that awful looking carry handle and replacing it with a more flat top plus integrated rail makes it even better (as long as you ignore the bendy bipod).

The FÉLIN is so much grosser than a standard FAMAS. Instead of a strange, but characteristic carrying handle, you get this ungainly, silly slight slope and offset top-bottom-handguard sort of deal going on, and lose the cool-ass hooked charging handle.
The FAMAS carrying handle is so iconic.

If you see a blurry pic of a gun in the distance and it looks like a block with a stock, a trigger and a barrel, it's a FAMAS.
Swedish Piketen (SWAT) on-point:

Sorry for the horrible quality because apparently all swedish journalists are incapable of taking non-blurry photos.
Bonus, homemade ammobox for Ksp 58:

From the description:
"Live-fire support with Ksp 58.
Box is a "private" prototype 1.4.
Box holds ca. 700 taped 7,62."
Also ignore the comments as most are from butthurt old veterans complaining that he doesn't switch out the barrel after 250 shots (as per regulation). :v:
Jesus Christ, without an ammo chute to protect the belt, that looks like a snagtacular dirtmachine. Then again, it is Swedish, so it's hard to expect different.
Replace swedish with homemade you doofus. :smug:
In general, the downsides to backpack-mounted ammo feeds seem to greatly outweigh the one or two perks it offers over belt-bags or boxes.
The loaded weapon is no longer a self-contained unit.
The chute or belt is very much in the way in a whole lot of positions and needs frequent adjustment (as seen in this very video)
There's much more stuff for the belt to get caught up.
There's the issue of not being able to carry a real backpack.
You still have to take semi-frequent breaks to do barrel-changes anyway.
As for upsides:
You need to reload less
You look slightly more baller (but you already look baller as fuck with a GPMG)

I like the Famas but probably because of MGS1.

I mean yeah, overall it sucks but I'd reckon it could be extremely useful for a smaller militray force trying to hold a position.
From what I've seen (based on other similar designs) not even Rambo-americans want to run around with a thousand rounds on their backs.
Nonetheless it's still a interesting idea.

Even for a small, platoon-sized force holding a position, it'd seem that belts of 100-200 rounds are plenty sufficient to the point where an improvement in ammo capacity is really getting you diminishing returns. You gotta remember with belt-bags, nothing's stopping you from un-bagging the belt and clipping it together with another to double the length, and then just keeping it loose. I think I once saw a video of a M60 firing off a 20.000 round belt :v:

Is that supposed to be a cheap knockoff of the rangefinder tech in the XM25 or something?
According to Wikipedia it's a day/night sight with image intensifiers and a camera to provide a link to the eyepiece, so you can use it to shoot around corners or over cover with. Some of them have IR capability, too.
The entire FELIN system costs around €38,000 for a complete set, including all the infantry gear and the weapon platform. So it is cheaper than the XM25, but it's hardly a knockoff considering it does a completely different job.
The XM25 supposedly costs $30,000 per unit. I wouldn't say the FELIN scope is cheap, it's just that the XM25 is absurdly fucking expensive. The OICW program as a whole should tell you that the US military hate money and really enjoy just throwing it away.

I feel like this is a decision coming from very high up the command-chain. You know- the ones who don't have to lug around all the crap that comes with a soldiers kit.
New rifle called the X11 Modular Rifle by SKELI:
I'm not sure I can dig the aesthetics but apparently it can change calibers in under a minute.

I can already see that thing not working because of a few problems. The first problem is that it's made in Italy. The second one is that it is made by Chiappa. The last one is, it doesn't take Glock mags.
