Well, if the wood isn't turned into a cloud of shrapnel from a hit, it would probably catch fire.
Now, that would only ruin the paintjob on the tank, but it would make the crew uncomfortable. Especially if they have to evacuate the tank.
I can already see that thing not working because of a few problems. The first problem is that it's made in Italy. The second one is that it is made by Chiappa. The last one is, it doesn't take Glock mags.
Actually it's made by Cugir in ROmania and imported by Chiappa.
Y'know, not the dumbest I've seen. I mean, why they didn't just go for a steel fence I don't know, but wood should work just as fine as anything else.
It's probably cheaper for them to cut down trees than to get more steel for a proper cage.
I really like the look of the Portugese AR-10 for some reason
The XM25 supposedly costs $30,000 per unit. I wouldn't say the FELIN scope is cheap, it's just that the XM25 is absurdly fucking expensive. The OICW program as a whole should tell you that the US military hate money and really enjoy just throwing it away.
as a recent hire to the world of the military industrial complex I can confirm this.
And that's not even its final form. This monstrosity is being issued to Squad Leaders

His Smile and Optimism: Gone
that's pretty much the face that one guy had in my "dorm" when he got put to nco position when he had no interest in the army.
Just another reminder that this thing exists:
As a result of the banning of specific cosmetic details, Olympic Arms released the OA-96 Pistol, which had a permanently pinned 10 round magazine (which "looked like a 30 round magazine"), thus not being 'detachable' the OA-96 could keep the barrel shroud and flash hider. Sales were dismal however, and few were made. No one wanted a pistol that you had to disassemble in order to reload.

In an attempt to built another pistol that 'could' have a detachable magazine, Olympic Arms released the OA-98 Pistol, which had the look of a 'skeleton' in that most of the metal and plastic had been cut away, to keep the pistol under the arbitrary "50 oz. weight limit" imposed by the Clinton Ban. Once under this weight limit, they could add the detachable magazine and still not be an assault weapon. But the flash hider and barrel heat shield had to go. Arguably one the ugliest pistols on the planet (and called that by many firearms authors), it too did not sell well.
I admit, the OA-93 is pretty cool; It's like an AR-15 pistol without the stupid buffer tube sticking out the back.
But that's different from the OA-96 and -98.
Anyone else thinks the Zumwalt-class DDs look rad? I feel like I'm the only one who thinks it looks cool in a futuristic kind of way.

It looks awesome, it just doesn't actually work very well and the program got gutted to the point of uselessness.

I'm not sure if they're even explosive. They might just be actual solid shot cannonballs impacting with enough force to disturb all the dust

are the two things on the front supposed to be guns or missile launchers or what
Is that an SPG-9 on the donkey's back?
are the two things on the front supposed to be guns or missile launchers or what
They're supposed to mount 155mm guns, which fire some kind of smart munitions to provide fire support to land forces
Thing is, there are issues with the ammo, both on terms of money and reliability, and as for the guns...
There was no requirement for the AGS (Advanced Gun System) to strike seagoing targets, and the system does not have the programming to do so. But the big guns could be adapted to target ships if necessary, the Navy official said.
so is the thing completely defenceless if put alone against an enemy warship?

It's the "civilian" market rifle. It's still tied up by importations and the ATF for the US. The Canuks got it before us. I'm somewhat jealous.
