It's the "civilian" market rifle. It's still tied up by importations and the ATF for the US. The Canuks got it before us. I'm somewhat jealous.
Isn't the SLx the civvie g36?

Couldn't sell them pretty much due to German law and the Assault Weapons Ban from 1994-2004. It was a seriously gimped G36 rifle. From having a single stack mag, to the crappy stock, and the bolt head even having one of the lugs shaved, and a ludicrous price to boot, killed this gun immediately. To convert it to a semi auto G36 properly, you need to invest an additional $3600 for a demilled G36 parts kit, and find a guy to weld it together with your $1500 rifle.
I think Ian from RAI did a video on one of them. The gun may have sucked but I like the way it looks with a free floating barrel [t]http://www.imfdb.org/images/9/94/HK-SL8.jpg[/t]

I'd emigrate to Canada if it weren't for their retarded-ass magazine restrictions. Five-round capacity-limit for rifles, are you fucking kidding me?

Is Century Arms a low quality manufacturer or something? I was planning on getting their C308, because it had some pretty good reviews. [editline]24th November 2016[/editline] If anything, I'd say Olympic Arms is a low quality manufacturer.

The only reason you buy a century HK clone is to cannibalize the parts to do the build properly by yourself or have a professional do it. Century is a low quality manufacturer and a hit or miss importer. That is what is affecting the importation of the guns compared to the AWB. As soon as you modify one part, you must replace half the gun with U.S. made parts of varying quality. So you end up with AK rifles imported by century that have single stack mags and get butchered to accept a standard AK mag because otherwise, they would have to spend more on replacing parts. Or you want to put a new stock on your Saiga, but you have to replace all the guts and the furniture to stay legal.

It would be known as the HK 293 in the US, but they're running into some issues regarding importation regulations
I just found this on HK's website.
It looks awesome, it just doesn't actually work very well and the program got gutted to the point of uselessness.
It works fine. It got gutted because of budget cuts. It's like the B2 Spirit; expensive and so far ahead that the advantages can't be taken advantage of. If we're somehow able to make this kind of tech even compacter and less expensive I think it's worth a try but so far all we've seen of such programs is having a giant brick on a finnicky rail.

IIRC, they busted two other facilities earlier this year for making Mac-10 copies.
Making Ice in an old beer keg, yep, that's the gold coast
Looking at the method, it's probably real good quality as well. Glad the cops got that stuff off the street, but it's a bit worrying that a 20 year old and 22 year old were responsible for the operation. You figure it would be some older guys part of a bikkie group.

you dont even need to go to the darknet, there's plenty of guides on public sites
I guess I'm over worrying about it, but seeing younger men and women going about making this type of stuff is weird for me.

I know a place that sells pamphlets on how to illegally modify your guns to shoot full auto.
