I have a handful of 4,73x33 rounds laying around. I wonder if they deteriorate over time?
I'd wager that they probably do unless stored away from light and moisture.
I have a handful of 4,73x33 rounds laying around. I wonder if they deteriorate over time?
Lol, slightly related, about the 9mm bullets I mentioned finding waaay back when clearing a basement, they seem to date back to year 1943..
Never took a pic, but the box says info such as 0.395 g. It has a date saying 5.2.43 (meaning 1943) and "S043" which is also imprinted in the back of the rounds, around the primer..
And a few odd ones out that that had "S-41" imprinted in the back of the rounds, instead of "S043"
So, pretty old bullets I think, around 50 of them. I wonder if they'd shoot, but probably?

Why are they making that switch? cheaper or something?
the handguns I mean, not the rifle.
1903, damn.. But ty for info also
What about now-obsolete pin-fire rounds? :v: Got a few of those which might be even older, but they're just in absl. terrible shape and probably dangerous

I'm guessing their P226s are beat as fuck at this point and Glocks are cheaper and easier to maintain.
I'm guessing their P226s are beat as fuck at this point and Glocks are cheaper and easier to maintain.
yea that sounds about right, plus how often do servicemen really even use their sidearms? rarely at best I'd think, and glocks certainly work.

I think it's actually a laser
The GIGN uses a pretty badass combat revolver still, too.

MR-73. Seen it with a light mounted underneath the grip by a GIGN operator, dunno why, but it looked awesomely weird.
The Manurhin revolvers are awesome. Ever handled one?
Sadly not, only revolver I've played with was a Smith and Wesson model whatever-the-fuck .44 nickel plated. Was surprisingly not bad to shoot, even as second handgun ever fired. Accurate and easy to point too, hit a dinner-plate-sized target at 100 yards with third shot.

The action is /ridiculously/ slick and well-made for an around 130 year old design.
The machining is just so smooth and nice, the parts were hand fitted for each rifle, and that's what gives it the fame of possibly the smoothest military bolt action mechanism, along with some Mannlicher rifles.

If I can be bothered, I'll add some pictures of some older Finnish cartridges in my collection :)
I have at least 7,62x39, 7,62x53R, 9x19, 12ga and some experimental rounds that are quite rare!
Damn. That is a really fine looking rifle, Prusse. it's hard to believe it's that old.
How much did it cost you?
I personally think a well made S&W revolver is much nicer than any Colt.
Colt Pythons are famous and all, but a good condition S&W M.586 just feels, looks, and shoots better.
The cylinder release on the Colts is completely useless too, in my humble opinion..
The Korth, Colt snakes, and Manurhins are all slick as hell revolvers; you're probably better off dropping the cash on a Korth or Manurhin though, because at least they still make them, and the Colts are up to $2k for the .357s
S&Ws are fine, but they aren't on the same level for fit and finish as a Colt snake.
I agree however, the S&W cylinder release is better.
Why are they making that switch? cheaper or something?

I'd guess cost and simplicity. The P226 is a bit complicated for a handgun that will only get used as a last resort.
Does anyone have that video if that weird AK/AEK looking gun at a gun range that has like, semi automatic, two burst, three burst, five burst, and full auto? Trying to show it to a friend.

The designer of that gun, Korobov, made some incredibly strange bullpup rifles.
[t]http://www.militaryimages.net/media/tkb-022p-assault-rifle.23931/full[/t]
Pictured above are two of his guns, the TKB-022p (the one made of bakelite that uses the magazine for the grip) and the TKB-059 (the one with three barrels)
[t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ee/TKB-011_rifle_1963_mod_Tula_State_Arms_museum.jpg[/t]
He also designed this bullpup, the TKB-011
It looks like a bullpup XM8.
