In 2016 Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation) will begin to promote the Uran-9 combat multipurpose robotic system in the international market.
The Uran-9 is designed to provide remote reconnaissance and fire support to combined arms, recon and counter-terror units. It consists of two recon and fire support robots, a tractor for their transportation and a mobile control post.
The armament of the recon and fire support robots includes the 30mm 2A72 automatic cannon, a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and Ataka ATGMs. The armament mix may vary depending on customer requirements.
It's a cute robotic BMD <3
I described that thing to a friend as babby's first BMD. It's great.
Looks way better than this fucking abomination.

Now if we can get munitions made out of meteorite, then we can usurp some gods.

I really should send this old bastard to a gun company to get a barrel or something made:

Only the grip is made from the meteor fragment :(
IIRC, the reason most folks don't use meteorites for gun manufacturing is because it's retarded hard to bring them to a point where you can work with it.
So I celebrated new years eve by shooting with a blackpowder side-by-side.
Pretty good new years eve if you ask me.

Not to mention ludicrisly expensive to custom manufacture your own steel, and unlike swords there isn't any actual difference between meteorite iron or normal iron after its been turned to steel and poured out as a part to be machined...its not really taking advantage of the materal
I built an (fictional) 8x8 in garry's mod

and a shitty video of it

Uses a mod that simulations ballistics and drivetrains to fight other contraptions with, called ACF.
what the fuck, are these functional?
Also illegal to use on actual soldiers, because they can blind people.
Optics and other electronic devices are fair game, though.
what the fuck, are these functional?
They're designed to blind people, so yes.
Oh.
That's significantly lamer than I thought. For a minute I thought the world had gone full Starship Troopers while I was taking a nap.
With all the Star Wars hype going around, I decided to look further into the Fedayeen Saddam group and the origin of their distinguishable helmet.

"The unit was commanded by Saddam’s son Uday, who was – legend has it – a massive Star Wars fan."
Amazing if true.
I thought the helmets were East German.
So did laser rifles as a concept come up in fiction first, or did some dude just think "what if like we made a really intense magnifying glass and burned people with it?"
It's neat how military technology seems to try and chase military sci-fi.

The M1956 has a similar shape but it's nowhere near as deep as that.

Well there was that greek dude I can't remember the name of who allegedly came up with the idea of polishing the hell out of everyone's shields and using them as a mirror to set ships on fire with strong sunlight, but not exactly a laser.
Mythbusters tested that, it ended up being highly unlikely to work in real life scenarios.

well Lasers as a thing didn't come into being a thing until after they were invented but ray-guns have been in popular fiction as far back as the turn of the last century such as Tom A Smith's Electric Rifle

Why do people even call them rifles? A rifle is a rifle because of it's rifled barrel, not tacticoolness.
Still looks like neat balloon poppers.
Archimedes, he was Syracusan.
Syracuse was a greek city-state. Doesn't matter that it was located on Sicily, it was still greek by the historical definition, so calling Archimedes greek is the third-most correct term for him, and certainly not wrong.

Originally yeah, but that also means pistols are rifles, most people use it to mean that form factor of weapon.

I wasn't correcting him, I was specifying. Despite being an ethnically Greek State, wouldn't you agree that Syracuse was fairly different culturally from the Achaean states?
