Why does it need a stock? I get it you're more accurate resting against it but fuck it, anything that looks even remotely like a "bolter" is pure sex to me. They modernized it but kept the changes tasteful and subtle. Adding a rail on top for a sight makes perfect sense considering the original has no sights, and replacing the barrel venting on the original with a tri-rail assembly is the least intrusive way to add rails for modern accessories. I notice too that now it has a flash hider of some sort, and the pump grip on the grenade launcher is not the original cut-down SPAS grip but one that has more pronounced ribbing. Looks pretty sweet to me.

I prefer the old pulse rifle.
Anything with a red dot can basically be fired without a stock anyways, the whole point of red dot optics is to give you a clear scope picture [editline]14th October 2015[/editline] I always find it interesting that THAT was the gun of hl2, it was pretty shit, and had no immediately redeemable characteristics
wtf does that have to do with what i was talking about ? Also don't use a game to determine the performance of a gun, it was actually based on the MP7 prototype also firing a weapon that has a dot sight on it without a stock, the accuracy of your shoot can be affected, you might have the gun leaned to the right or left or what have you, and the alignment can be all wrong, unless your using an Eotech or something similar, which has a function the nullifies this factor. [editline]16th October 2015[/editline]
I prefer the old pulse rifle.
well yeah of course the original is iconic because of the films, but you have to think, it's in the future, these rifles are given to Colonial marines, they have smart guns that can track and accurately fire at targets, they got motion trackers, sentry guns, etc., but they dont even have high tech sights or aiming aids for their weapons? i dont know, that's just my opinion to be honest
[t]http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/pike1021-1021x483-660x312.jpg[/t] Raytheon has been developing the Pike guided munition for some time now, testing it on UAVs but recently the company has successfully completed a test firing from an M203 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher, hitting a target at 2,000 meters. The thing seems to be the size of a small bat and weighs two pounds. They didn’t say anything about how the targeting system works, so I assume the grenadier points it at a 45 degree angle to the target and fires it, letting the guidance system take up the rest, similar to how a TOW guided missile system works. I’ve always jokingly called the M203, a “lethal potato gun launcher” because of the simplicity of the launcher, its rudimentary sighting system, and the fact that most guys barely aim it, using straight up Kentucky Windange to adjust subsequent shots. The 40mm HEDP grenade isn’t exactly the most technologically advanced munition in our arsenal, with a max effective range out to 400 meters. However with this Pike missile, that range almost increased five fold, with a much larger payload, and much more precise. From Defense Update– "Raytheon Company successfully fired two Pike 40 mm precision-guided munitions from a standard tube grenade launcher during flight tests at Mile High Resources in Texas. Both rounds landed within the targeted impact area after flying more than 2,300 yards. (2.1 km). Weighing less than two pounds and measuring just 16.8 inches (42.6 cm) in length, Pike can be fired from a conventional, single-shot grenade launcher such as the M320 orEGLM (Enhanced Grenade Launching Module). The maximum range of M320 grenade launcher is 437 Yards (350 meters). “Pike uses a digital, semi-active laser seeker to engage both fixed and slow-moving, mid-range targets,” said J. R. Smith, Raytheon’s Advanced Land Warfare Systems director. “This new guided munition can provide the warfighter with precision, extended-range capability never before seen in a hand-held weapon on the battlefield. Pike will become smarter and smarter as we continue to develop its capabilities,” said Smith. “In the current configuration, the warfighter will enter programmable laser codes prior to loading Pike into its launcher. Spiral development calls for multiple-round simultaneous programming and targeting with data link capabilities.” Pike’s rocket motor ignites eight to 10 feet after launch and is nearly smokeless for reduced launch signature." [t]http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/pike_pic_01_lg.jpg[/t] [t]http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/pike_riler_lead_pic.jpg[/t]
The Firearm Blog I wonder how effective these would be on lightly armored transports.
now thats a mini-missile

Might as well use airsoft if you're deliberately trying to remove all recoil from the equation. I'd be way more impressed if someone could pull off Clint Eastwood-style rapid fire fanning with full-power loads than this one-thumb PLINK PLINK PLINK PLINK.

Why on earth would someone over 100 years into the future be using technology from 2015? The designers could put in some effort and artistic ability and make their own sights from existing ones, mashups etc. and then just build the laser into the weapon itself, y'know, the sort of thing that led to the pulse rifle's design in the first place. If you're going to use modern technology in a future setting you may as well just give them an AR-15. Also, rails look like shit IMO
While it wouldn't work for Aliens, I think Elysium blended future and current tech perfectly in a way that fit the setting: The Elysians have nice high quality future guns, whereas the people on Earth are doing whatever they can with what they have.

It's a good idea given the fact he needs to be dropped from out of a starship floating about in space or a planet's orbit and straight onto the ground without suffocating to death in the time in between. But other than that, he's gonna have a bad time trying to scratch his nose
I could imagine the blast visor be easily retractable. Mag pouches and other little holsters and goodies could likely be attached to plates or just crammed if the armor plates have a weave that they can be put onto.

The greatest armour a guardsman has is his gigantic titanium testicles
