Seems like he hasn't had any issues with it at all.
Ian also got his hands on a Korth PRS, which is a german-made 1911 derivative that uses a roller delayed blowback mechanism as opposed to the original It looks pretty nice but it's like $3700
Better than spending $3700 on a regular 1911 though.
Barrel changes, bigger magazine, better ergonomics, top-mounted mag is best mounted mag for LMGs of that era.
Magazine was also easier to change out on top of being bigger, and you could have an assistant gunner do it for you without ever having to take your sights off the target It was also much easier to field strip and clean, the bipod wasn't a colossal piece of shit, and the sights were a hell of a lot better. Pretty much the only thing the BAR has on the Bren is that it's slightly lighter The BAR was honestly kind of a piece of shit. It's one of my favorite rifles and it's an iconic piece of military history, but it was just painfully obsolete even before the second world war had rolled around
i always found the webley automatic really really cool though the normal mkiv is cool too
Everybody be quiet now as we bask in the glory of American ideals being condensed into this rifle [img_thumb]https://cowboyshooting.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/yellowboy_large.jpg[/img_thumb] You can just hear the injun villagers screaming in terror as you lookit her.
The desert night is silent and calm, but with every shot, the only thing which echos back is the sound of mountain spirits crying the song of Manifest Destiny.

I mean one of custards mistakes was not bringing gattling guns, but the other was going up against a force that outnumbered and outgunned him
They obviously didn't know how to fight armoured warfare then.
They were probably sick of not being able to see anything. The Gas Masks are because of the exhaust methinks.
They obviously didn't know how to fight armoured warfare then.
The gas masks makes me think it's less about not knowing about armored warfare and more about demonstrating that tank crews could still fight, even when dismounted I'm pretty sure tanks back then weren't sealed against NBC attacks like your average MBT is today, and gas attacks were still a pretty real concern for the era

It does look kinda neat, but it's like wearing a Bascinet. Your peripheral vision is non-existing.
Eh wasn't the m-3 essentially a deathtrap by mid war, though because of the way tanks evolved and how it kept getting stuck
Which comes back to not knowing how to do armoured warfare. [editline]20th January 2016[/editline] The M3 was a bad design from the drawing board.
Which comes back to not knowing how to do armoured warfare. [editline]20th January 2016[/editline] The M3 was a bad design from the drawing board.
It wasn't outright horrible, it was just outdated the moment it hit the drawing board.
Which comes back to not knowing how to do armoured warfare. [editline]20th January 2016[/editline] The M3 was a bad design from the drawing board.
Considering that it was a stopgap design rushed to production in order to provide the allies with tanks until American industry could be tooled up to produce M4 Shermans in sufficient numbers, the M3 was actually surprisingly effective, despite its somewhat awkward design It was a conscious decision to mount the main gun on a sponson, American designers already knew it was an archaic design. But there was an immediate and urgent need to get some decent, well armed armor to Allied forces in North Africa as soon as humanly possible, and while it sure as hell looks stupid beyond all reason, that 75mm gun consistently laid waste to the German armor it was so often facing. The 50mm and short 75mm cannons and relatively thin, flat armor of the Panzer IIIs and IVs of the time had a hell of lot of trouble coping with the sloped armor and 75mm M61 AP shells that the Lee/Grant made use of I'm pretty sure I've gone over this ground before but what the hell, it bears repeating
Magazine was also easier to change out on top of being bigger, and you could have an assistant gunner do it for you without ever having to take your sights off the target
Exactly why top-mag is best-mag. Both easier to reload alone from the then-tactic of walking fire (Hold it at hip-level with help of the sling and just kinda spray and pray while advancing), and much easier to reload when using it as an actual LMG in a supporting role. BAR was slightly better as a rifle for accurate unsupported single-shot fire, but then that begs the question; what the hell are you doing giving accurate unsupported single-shot fire with your squads god damn LMG when the rest of your squad already has semi auto rifles?
Which comes back to not knowing how to do armoured warfare. [editline]20th January 2016[/editline] The M3 was a bad design from the drawing board.
It was the only thing we could make with a 75mm gun, nobody pretended that it was anything but a stopgap, the m4 was already in the works but ww2 came a bit earlier than anticipated, plus early war tanks really couldn't deal with the 75mm gun as well as late war armor could

It's to make the bullets go faster.
It's to make the bullets go faster.
Correct. It's a very thin layer of dyed grease applied to the inside of the barrel. It was common practice in black-powder weapons once the rate of fire began getting past the capacity of muzzle loaders. The idea is that the rough lead-cast bullets will have less friction while still engaging the rifling, and the horrible fouling from the dirty powder and smoke would bind with the grease instead of the metal of the barrel instead, which would then be discarded with subsequent shots. This way, the barrel stays clean longer compared to an uncoated steel barrel, and you can get more rounds off in a firefight before the fouling starts affecting performance. The grease is dyed red so it's easier to see when the coating is worn out completely and you need to replace it for smooth performance.
You can use purple grease if you don't have a suppressor.
