what the fuck, are there people who actually call it the "fall"????
EFF AY EL is three syllables and kinda long to say compared to "fahl".
When you pronounce FAL, do you say eff ayy el, pal except with an F, or fall? rate informative for eff ayy el rate friendly for pal but with an F rate useful for fall
Falafel
Fal, a pronounced as in cat
I pronounce "FAL" like "F A L" ("eff ayy el"). even though Norwegian is my mother-tongue, I use and hear English much more, so it 'rules over' my mother-tongue.
I've intentionally called them weird things to confuse guys in my shop. I usually call the FAL "F A L" but i'll say "Fail" from time to time. Same can be said for the SKS, I'll call it a "skiss" to the confusion of my coworkers.
I say FAL like the first bit of my name.
I usually say it like pal but with an f but if I'm being descriptive I'll call it the Eff Ay Ell What about the AUG? Do people say Ay-You-Gee or like Org?
AUG = Aoug
I usually say it like pal but with an f but if I'm being descriptive I'll call it the Eff Ay Ell What about the AUG? Do people say Ay-You-Gee or like Org?
I always say Aug(mented), ayy you gee sounds retarded. Something I wonder about a lot is the AWM, do people say ayy doubleyou em or "om"?
AWM is pretty clear cut AWM. If you shorten it to "om" it doesn't mean anything lol
ayy vee pee
Speaking of the AWM, the German Army might be replacing it with with this new sniper rifle that they just adopted Haenel RS9 in .338 Lapua now designated as the G29
Well they're gonna need some sort of weapon that can hit something at beyond 50 meters.
I can't place why, but that looks very visually off-putting to me

Just.. Why. There's so many wrong things with this that I don't even know where to start.
I don't think he understands how revolvers work. Or even scope mounts work for that matter.
Just.. Why. There's so many wrong things with this that I don't even know where to start.
i do, how the hell are you supposed to hold it, you're not going to seriously put anything infront of the cylinder, it'll be blown off, and stock doesn't look like it will stop any recoil at all, especially since the pistol is going to want to kick upwards and rotate about that joint also silencer on a magnum revolver, so i'm going to assume the designer doesn't know how those work
Looks like a kinda sci-fi take on stuff like this
i do, how the hell are you supposed to hold it, you're not going to seriously put anything infront of the cylinder, it'll be blown off, and stock doesn't look like it will stop any recoil at all, especially since the pistol is going to want to kick upwards and rotate about that joint also silencer on a magnum revolver, so i'm going to assume the designer doesn't know how those work
Someone should probably let these guys know [editline]I ain't got time to merge[/editline] I seriously think you're making kind of a mountain out of a molehill here. I don't really see any reason it couldn't have a purpose built silencer that could handle the pressure of a magnum round You hold it by the upper portion of the grip which really isn't that much worse than a regular revolver's, it looks like it's just slightly taller to give that stock something extra to grip Stocks don't exist to stop recoil, they exist to give you something to brace against so you can absorb recoil, and since it's in line with the bore and has that bigass suppressor, it's not going to have the same flip as a regular revolver, it's going to be directed against your shoulder because that's how recoil works Maybe it's kind of a goofy design, but it's really not nearly as terrible as it's being made out to be
I seriously think you're making kind of a mountain out of a molehill here. I don't really see any reason it couldn't have a purpose built silencer that could handle the pressure of a magnum round be
The issue isn't there that the suppressor couldn't take the pressure, it's that it doesn't do jack shit 'cause you've got cylinder gap. Of course it "could" have same sort of mechanism as for example the Nagant M1895 revolver which compresses the cylinder against a collar at the cylinder end of the barrel, and the shell itself has an extra length to it so when fired it expands and seals the gases inside, but I kinda doubt whoever did that has any idea about that.

I always wondered, are the IG/Space Marine turrets autonomous or is there someone controlling them as they trundle along?
I always wondered, are the IG/Space Marine turrets autonomous or is there someone controlling them as they trundle along?
For all its worth, it's probably some dude who's purposefully crippled and shoved into the machine to work it because Grimdark i guess
While we are on the subject of military robots... Everybody's favorite manufacturer of roombas and bomb defusing robots is spinning off their bomb defusing robot division http://gizmodo.com/irobot-is-selling-their-military-robotics-division-to-f-1757625521 For such a well established business, they are selling it off pretty cheap at 45M$
Acctualy the Mechanicus Kastellan and Castellan robots literaly use freaking punchcards.
according to the internet, they're more like SIM cards that contain all the robot's instructions, so not quite that crude
