I suppose on some level I always knew belts had to be loaded somehow but it never actually occurred to me to wonder how exactly it was done
What about disintegrating links? You can't just have a long empty chain of those
What about disintegrating links? You can't just have a long empty chain of those
From what I've seen they seem to work, maybe you have to go slower with them
You can get loaders for disintergrating links, they look like this:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/pXWBPlP.jpg[/t]
Other types probably exist, but with this kind it looks like you just line up a bunch of belt links and rounds above them then pull the lever down to press the rounds into the links.

Vid title confused me.
"ammunition powered linking and delinking" made it sound like it fired a round off in order to press another into the link.

Also can someone explain the sig brace? Shouldering a stock is kinda what it's fucking for.
It's to bypass the US SBR regulations
you're "supposed" to strap it to your arm like so

It was originally designed to be used for one-armed/one-handed shooting. People found that it made a decent stock and used it to bypass the ATF and SBR laws. After much bragging by the users, the ATF had the last laugh with re-designating the brace to be only be legal if it is not modified at all( includes removing the strap), have it strapped to your arm or have it not touch your shoulder (cheek weld is legal). Shouldering it causes it to be "remanufactured" into a SBR and thus is illegal without paying a tax, serializing the receiver, and getting approval.
Basically a load of bullshit.
I don't have a problem with restricting gun ownership by type, but I do have a problem with the massive, loophole-laden, irrational clusterfuck US regulations are. IIRC the Tec-9 is illegal in many states due to its "barrel shroud," a piece that basically does jack shit except protect your hand from barrel heat. Not that anyone would want to own a Tec-9 anyway :v:
[editline]24th February 2016[/editline]
What's the deal with SBR illegality anyway? That they're more easily concealable? That doesn't seem to make a ton of sense, considering that handguns exist.

It's as if a gun manufacturer's lobby were intentionally writing in exploitable loopholes for their expensive crap they'll sell to exploit loopholes
SBR ban is leftover from the 20s I think when mobsters were sawing off everything that could shoot

As far as shouldering it goes, it's also something that, if I'm not out of the loop, is more or less something that is just on the books as a way to throw an additional charge on someone who uses it during a crime, apparently. As in, the ATF isn't going to track you down and blast your dog because someone saw you do it at the range.

There are a lot of gun laws that we have to deal with. Each one an additional charge, if for whatever reason, you end up in hot water with the police. 922r Compliance is another small, and for the most part, inconsequential law that forbids you from having an import gun unless the import gun has all of the original parts from import in/on it. Otherwise, you have do the checklist game of replacing various parts on the gun to make it compliant.
An imported gun that is modified must have no more than 10 import parts. The rest MUST be US made parts. Gets dicey when detachable magazines come into play. 922r is partially the reason why most AK's in the US suck. Many people ignore this law and if you end up in trouble with the police, they can tack on an additional charge. It's crap like this that is irritating. You are playing a game with no concrete rules with serious legal ramifications.
As for the NFA. It's out dated. It was meant to combat the gangs and mafias of the 30's. It's initial inception was effectively a ban for any other law abiding citizen with the $200 tax back in the 1930's. Luckily the tax has not been adjusted for inflation. If it was, it would be roughly $3500 for the tax. Really what struck down gangs through law enforcement was not arms/alcohol offenses or gang turf wars, but the more civil offenses like tax evasion.

The whole ruling is questionable in itself. The legal definition of a short barreled rifle is such
The term "rifle" means a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed cartridge to fire only a single projectile through a rifled bore for each single pull of the trigger, and shall include any such weapon which may be readily restored to fire a fixed cartridge
Since the words manufacture/re-manufacturer and made/remade are not clearly legally defined they can be up to interpretation, which in the case of the ATF they decided that you "remade" a firearm.
Using the ATF's logic you could get a felony charge for putting a pistol grip into your shoulder, or a buffer tube off an AR pistol.
However by definition a rifle must be intended to be fired from the shoulder, while the sig braces original intent was to brace upon the arm.
Long story short its never met the scrutiny of the court. Legally speaking only ATF agents can charge people as well (local PD can arrest you, confiscate your gun, and put you in jail for a night but can't press charges). So unless there's significant amount of witnesses, video evidence, and an ATF officer watching you they're going to be hard pressed to bring any charges forward.
With that being said as far as I'm aware no one has been charged, which in a way makes sense. If they do charge someone and it goes to court their ruling now gets to face court scrutiny, which considering how floppy of an argument it is would more than likely not stand up in court. So by not charging anybody it keeps the rule up unchallenged while at the same time keeping honest people honest.

so it looks like they took an LVT turret (technically an M8 Scott turret), mounted it on a Matilda, covered the open top with armor, added a cupola, took out the 75mm howitzer, and replaced it with a 2lber
why even bother? the normal matilda turret has the same armament, but more armor :v:

what the hell aussies
Quite possibly a training vehicle built out of spare parts they had lying around, or to try and familiarise the trainee with multiple systems at once. There was a T-55 fitted with a Hellcat turret during the Yugoslav wars that served roughly the same purpose as I recall. It may also have just been a target vehicle, again built from spare parts.
